Star Wars fans who happen to be gamers have gotten a pretty raw deal; games bearing the “star Wars” licence of late have been pretty abysmal, with titles like terrible The Force Unleashed 2, and the even worse Star Wars Kinect. The ones that held promise, like the incredible looking Star Wars 1313 and Battlefront 3 have been unceremoniously cancelled. With Disney now at the helm of the Star Wars ship, it’s possible we may never see a decent Star Wars game again – which makes Steam’s latest sale all the more enticing.
For just $50 – less than the price of a new release – you can pick up fourteen Star Wars games in honour of this weekend’s “Star Wars day” on May the fourth. Hurry though, because the sale ends today!
Here’s what your $50 gets you :
- Star Wars Battlefront 2
- Star Wars Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast
- Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2
- Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
- Star Wars Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith
- Star Wars Republic Commando
- Star Wars Starfighter
- Star Wars The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes
- Star Wars The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition
- STAR WARS: THE FORCE UNLEASHED 2
- Star Wars: Dark Forces
- Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
- Star Wars Empire at War: Gold Pack
- STAR WARS: Knights of the Old Republic 2
That’s a pretty awesome bundle of games, and though it includes that aforementioned misstep in The force Unleashed 2, it does also include genuine gems like the Jedi Knight games and the rather incredible RPG series, Knights of the Old Republic, and the wonderful Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast.
If force powers and lightsabers get you giddy, over to Steam head you must.
Now tell us! What’s your favourite Star Wars Game? As a died-in-the-wool RPg gamer, mine has to be Knights of the Old Republic, with a special nod or two to two oldschool games that aren’t in the bundle; X-Wing, and Tie fighter.

I played but never finished because my PC couldn’t handle the graphics at the time. I’m thinking I need to get it and play it to the end now.

Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy, KOTOR 1 and KOTOR 2 and who can forget the “AOE 2 Clone”, Galactic Battlegrounds. For some reason assaulting a base with an army of Jedi was something else. 🙂 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars:_Galactic_Battlegrounds

Picked up Battlefront 2, good times. Too bad Steam doesn’t have enough keys to go around, so still waiting patiently to play it.

Picked this up on Saturday already and I still can’t retrieve the cd-key for Empire At War, bullshit Steam again.
Anyway, Tie Fighter was the coolest Star Wars game ever made and I also enjoyed the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series with the second game being the best in the series. Jedi Outcast was a letdown after all the FMV goodness of Star Wars Dark Forces 2 Jedi Knight 1 (couldn’t resist).
X-wing vs Tie Fighter and X-Wing Alliance get honorable mentions along with Rogue Squadron and Republic Commando for pure fun.

Also I only paid $30 not $50 as stated in the article.
