Ghost Recon: Breakpoint’s latest roadmap will focus on AI teammates

Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is…not very good. It was a confusing mess of genres that didn’t look all that great and was bogged down by the almost forced multiplayer nature of the experience. Ubisoft realised this and promised a whole bunch of content updates that would hopefully fix it all or at the very least make it better. Those updates were rolled out but word of any future ones has seemingly dried up. That changed this weekend when the developers confirmed the release of two major title updates are on the horizon. The first is the 4.0.0 update and is set to launch in the next couple of months.

According to the blog post published by Ubisoft, the 4.0.0 update is, “is focused on improving your experience with your AI squad, while also adding some community requested features. Discover a new XP progression for your AI squad, and unlock new passive skills and abilities as you play. A dedicated quest log will also be available for you to experiment with the new AI squad features while rewarding you with cool and exclusive rewards!” Basically, you can take your AI teammates and customise them a little, making them more effective in a fight. Seems like a good place to start.

As for the second of the two updates, 4.0.1 is still “classified” but the blog post teases that the operation will be one of the largest yet. This will most likely launch in Q3 of 2021 but that’s just an estimation on my behalf. Back in 2019 when Kervyn reviewed Breakpoint he said, “Ghost Recon: Breakpoint is frustrating in how much it undercuts the good ideas it has with several bad ones, some of which don’t actually belong here. The end result is an uneven title that doesn’t feel like it quite know what it wants to be.”

I finished the main storyline, and then I called it quits. There was something that this game was missing that Wildlands had!
