PAX Prime in Seattle was the perfect excuse for another Active Time Report for Final Fantasy XV. I’m so glad that they are being more transparent about how development is going now – it keeps restoring my faith in the title and getting me excited all over again. New screenshots and videos are making the game look beyond compelling.
First up, here’s is our first view of the translated menu screen:
A few things immediately jump out at me beyond just how slick the screen looks. Summons have their own section on the menu. Could this mean that they can be leveled or customized in some way? “Collection” seems to confirm comments made earlier that there will be collectibles scattered around the world of the game. Finally, notice how there’s a bit of room on the left of where all the characters in the party are shown. Could this mean that there’s room for a guest in your party from time to time?
They also showed off the development progress of various elements of the game. Some of these animations and camera transitions are helping to bring the game together in all new ways.
But the most interesting part is this video showing off the driving experience in the game. They actually considered which side of the road the cars should drive on, and how the experience will play out if you choose to drive as compared to if you choose to let your buddies take the wheel (the option I think I will go for most of the time considering how much I hate driving in games).
I just can’t get over how impressive this looks. There is fuel in the car and it can run out, you can choose to stop driving at any point to investigate the area, but also just look at how they fidget and move in the car. It’s a delight to watch and I can’t wait to go joy riding next year.

Gees… they still far from finished by the looks of things. The game does look brilliant so far. Definitely will be a buy from my side. Now just to make sure I get a PS4….
