Go on holiday in Sims 4 free update

Two Grinches

The Sims 4 seemed to be missing some key features when it launched, leading many (including me) to worry that the game would add those in later, at an added fee. But that isn’t the case – free content has been added and the game now has pools and other fun ways to kill your Sim. Now you can have even more fun with your bizarre creations.

The latest update/patch/free DLC now lets your Sims go on holiday, plus it adds some new career options. The patch notes are extensive, so you can feel free to go check them out at the link, but the most interesting to me are the changes in career and new holiday elements.

First up, there are two new careers – a Business and Athletic Career. Both branch in two, with the business career letting you choose between Angel Investor or Business Tycoon while the athletic career makes you a Hall of Famer or Mr/Ms Solar System. Of course these come with their own career outfits, reward objects and rooms.

With a retooling of careers comes an important change. You now can get Paid Time Off (PTO). Going to work is stressful, even if you get weekends (or other random days in the week) off. Now Sims can also take a holiday without losing work performance. There is even family leave for when a new baby arrives. Of course, it’s similar to real life – the mothers can take time during the third trimester but fathers need to wait until after the birth to take time off. This will not affect your PTO balance, either. Sims even start a new job with three days PTO already accrued – starting a new job can be stressful, so why not celebrate with a long weekend?

The Holiday Celebration Pack is also available to players for free – just log into Origin and grab the pack without paying a cent. The pack includes a wreath, wall decorations and even a grinning snowman. Plus, there are some holiday sweaters for your Sims made by all the virtual grandmothers in the world.

Who is playing The Sims 4 at the moment? Are you excited to let your Sims kick back and relax with paid holiday, or must they just work forever like the rest of us?

The only fun that I ever had with a SIMS game was inclosing my Sim with 4 walls and watching him slowly starve to death. It got boring after awhile.

    I now pick elfroot.

Sadly bought it. Played it for a week with the different options, got bored, left it. Updated with the last patch. Got bored again uninstalled it. Wasnt a very engaging game, had so much potential.

I’m actually rather happy about these changes. The career options I think were sorely missed, my athletic sims didn’t have many options in their career path. Sucked.
