Gran Turismo 5 listed to release in 2011

GT5Delay

I was chatting to our good friend Dawid Venter over at G.E.A.R magazine this morning and the topic of Gran Turismo 5 came up. So I headed on over to the massive online retailers and was shocked to see the new release dates which are being listed.

Unfortunately the local sites don’t have any specific release dates listed but EBGames in the US has revised their expected release date and according to them we can only expect Gran Turismo 5 on the 1st of January 2011.

However it’s not all bad news with Amazon.com slightly more optimistic with a listed release date of the 31st of December 2010. The German Amazon however has a release date listed for the 8th of December so I guess for now we are hoping the Germans are right for once.

ShopTo.net has GT5 listed for a 3rd of December release and game.co.uk has it for December 2010.

One thing this shows is that Sony haven’t yet communicated a release date to any retailers yet and the longer this takes the less chance we have of getting GT5 this year and the marketing and retail space would need to be secured quite far in advance.

The question here is whether we want Sony to get the game into stores before Christmas no matter what or rather get everything in order and then release it in February 2011 instead?

All the 1/1/2010 dates @ ebgames are placeholders. The only thing it means is EBgames is as clueless than us when the game will be available.

yes ndibu forza 3 and gt5 would be practically identical if you stripped away from GT:
    the superior cockpit view
    the track editor
    the 500 extra cars
    the weather
    the day/night cycle
    the accumulating dirt
    the roar of the wind
    the head-tracking
    the 3D
the ability to turn off power steering
    the dynamic lighting
16 cars on track as opposed to 8
    rabble rabble rabble!

Only problem is last year at E3 – polygon promised a lot,

Forza had a big mouth and delivered on most, polygon saw that what Forza was delivering at that time was vastly above what they were doing , and hence no release in 2009 even thought the game was only weeks from complete. Now come 2010, and still we have some slight problems, so the need for the delay.

If you promised too much you have to deliver otherwise your fans will be mad like lans.

or your competition might just laugh at you.

I don’t see how anyone could compare Forza with the likes of Gran Turismo!
IF GT5 wasn’t gonna be better than forza then why would they bother spending so much money, time and effort on the game! its been in development for about 5 years!
whereas for forza – there you go a boring racing game to keep you occupied for a bit!
I’m sorry people who own Xbox 360s and love forza, i must tell you that you need a better job, and to buy something that’s worth the money!

oh and Sony Europe announced about a week ago that the game was being released early december! I cannot wait to be playing GT5 in 3 DIMENSIONS with a Power steering wheel and gaming seat!
just about as real as it gets without actually getting in a car and driving – but then theres no garage of over 1000 cars, and 70 different courses worldwide to select from without actually having to go there! ahhh i believe that is gaming heaven

The game should be here soon.

Rumor has it the delay is just due to the addition of motorcycles, intercontinental jetliners, submarines, cargo ships, bicycles, quads, snowboards, helicopters and a cross continent railroad. They are also having trouble accurately modeling the Magic Carpet as Aladdin is reluctant to grant them access to the only existing Magic Carpet in the universe.

Don’t worry folks, the game will be, just about the time when we’ve stopped using automobiles as our primary means of transportation and televisions are capable of broadcasting the 5D. See the catchy title… “GT5 in 5D” doesn’t get better than that.

Every PS3 fanboy here seem to equate time with quality, as if these things are relative to each other, neglecting other factors such as previous games, experience, learning curve etc…If this is true then why is it that on Metacritic the GT series averages 84% and the Forza series averages 91%, further investigation reveal that same can be said for Gamerankings where the GT series Averages a pathetic 75% and Forza series Averages 92%.This begs the question on what basis are you guys actually basing all these assumption that GT is a Superior product?

True, but exclude the “money-making add-on” editions of GT and only take the core editions, then it is a whole different story. 92.83% on gamerankings.

It’s not like the PS fanboys are commenting on a Forza 3 article. Funny how the Xbots feel the need to prove something.

When the game is finally released, because lets face it, it will be released, then we can argue about which game is the better. I agree, it is ridiculous for the game to be “postponed” so many times, but eventually everyone with a PS will be happy.

If you haven’t played GT4 or 5 prologue with a decent steering wheel and setup, you just won’t get it.

@Aussious first of all the only reason gt4 got 84% is because of the lack of online and no damage.
Second of all the more sequels you have, the harsher you get judged and the more critical people become,

Watch out when forza 4,5 come out.
Aussious Forza will also have the same problems, Alot of publications and users are complaining that forza 3 is a step back, there is no online forza community aussious its been actually sad, less than a thousand users, use it often alot of days theres less than 100,

if you asking how i know this its because ive decide to destroy forza from the inside
forza 4 is due fall 2011, they’ve spent alot of their time making dlc and kinect, there cockpits are substandard, so when the next generation comes they will have to completely redo those 500 cockpits, the 360hz physics they use is maxing out the xbox 360, how will they be able to make physics based rain? without lowering or impairing their physics engine? there already using 2 discs, so at some point if they keep on competing with gt5 how many discs will they have?

i honestly don’t think you should even bother to mention forza honestly there not really competing with each other or on the same level.

I have both GT3 A spec and GT4 on my PS2, both brilliant games and I have very little doubt that GT5 will better than Forza 3. Having said that I have very little doubt that Forza 4 is going to be fastly more superior to GT5 hence my argument being that the only fair measure is the series’s consistency As you cannot compare Forza 3 a game that is almost a year old with a game that has not even have a release date yet!

You speak about “Level”, okay according to who you lans, you? the aggregate gaming sites are the closest thing you’le ever get to a quality measure and you have disregarded those so I see no point in arguing opinion with you when facts are indisputable. I mean if forza 3 was pushed back another year I wouldnt of complaned because I know in that year they would of had more cars tracks, But what do they do they release a half harted game and make 80+ dollars worth of sh*t that sould of been in the game in the first place.

    Here we go again.

Yes, we know it takes time to put stuff in the game, but if it takes soooo long, then why did the first DLCs take very little time to put up. They had it all planned out, they could’ve easily put the first few DLC packs into the game when it was released but they want the $$$. This means that some people spend up to $150 for a game with 500 cars, No Dynamic Weather, No Day/Night transition, and virtually no offline modes except career.

I’ll admit, when I get a game, it is most likely for the online capabilitlies of it. But at times when douchbags get me in a bad mood, I just want to to an offline race. How about setting up 20 laps on Bugatti Circuit. Wait! I can’t do that offline, sure I can set up a private online lobby, but that doesn’t help if I have no internet at the moment.

In my mind, the only thing FM3 has going for itself is the physics, painting, and online modes. I am not much one for the painting, I like my cars to look as if they just came out of the factory, but I do like to put Race replica liveries on some of my cars. I last played the game on Sept. 20th. I had good times, I was a good driver in the Production lobbies, but I just got bored of it. I’m having more fun now with F1 offline, and soon, yes, I’ll get GT and try to lap all the cars that I accumulated on GTPSP around the Top Gear track. I like the approach that PD took to GT5 better than T10 took to FM3. And that approach is releasing a FULL GAME, a game that doesn’t need DLC to keep it going. And before anyone asks, I am old enough to drive, and got 2 cars in my garage. T10 may as well postponed the release date to whenever they are going to release this UCE because that is a FULL GAME. (as far as we know)

nope we just saying kicks the living breathing dragon out of forza in sales and Quality.

Dude i mean even top gear are gt fanboys, the guys at inside sim racing recently admitted while giving forza 3 high scores they now feel like forza 3 is not a real simulator lol!

Dude stop being predictable i already watched the last samurai, yes they lost, die in dignity

Well you failed to prove the quality part which leaves you with just sales, and if you are using sales a measure then I can also conclude the following: Hola 3 >Killzone 2,Gears of War 2 > Uncharted 2, Prototype >Infamous and Ultimately 360> PS3.As for the Top Gear guys being GT fanboys heck even the Forza developers admitted to being GT fanboys which is why they made Forza, that still doesn’t validate or invalidate anything.

    Lol Aussious !

    so according to your logic
gt5>forza 3 (this is your main argument dude not too smart)
    ps2>xbox 360
    wii>xbox 360
    psp>xbox 360

i dunno hey, does not look like a convincing win, i mean in order to beat sony they gotta beat ps2 at least right???

    so Xbox 360>Ps3

    but Ps2> Xbox 360

    and
    PSP+PS2+Ps3+Ps1>Xbox 360
    therefore
    Sony Game Division>Microsoft Game division
    your logic is so fail!
    lol

What are we arguing about again, I forgot? I’m not being sarcastic, I really don’t know 😀 If it is about which game is better, you would have to go and first define and outline each and every segment of the respective games: Graphics, handling, tracks, sound, attention to detail, variation, value for money, online experience, career mode, sense of progression, stability, and so on and so on. So before we waste our time, let agree to disagree. When Lazygamer releases their review on GT5 (hopefully we will all still be alive then) we can start this pointless and SUBJECTIVE argument again.

On the quality part of things, kindly define quality 🙂 Hope you’ve read “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance” and realize you are going to have a tough time with this 🙂

Lans, I fail to see the correlation hear, the PS2 never competed with the 360 but the original XBOX, since when does the PS2 have to fight the PS3’s battles. You missed my point completely…

ok lets get this right, i own both consoles and all i can say is that generally the xbox 360 offers better value for money than the ps3. Its online capabilities are far superior. BUT forza3 was such a bloody let down it was untrue. The same tracks over and over again with no significant development (other than glossier graphics) over forza 2. Me and my gaming friends played forza 2 to death and was really looking forward to part 3 but were heavily let down. Now although gt5 is taking forever to come out i can honestly say the time has been well spent to give us a proper varied racer. It will be such a huge jump from gt4. unlike forza2 to forza3s jump. Both games are great but there will only be one winner that being GT5, nuff said!

Is GT5 gonna have some sort of dashboard view option for the non-premium cars anyway? Sort of like a generic interior or even just a dark shade or something. I really like in-car view and I really don’t want to have to use another camera view just because the car doesn’t supports it.

Lans, can you shed some light on this?

nope they will be absolutely be no in car view for all 800 standard cars whatsoever.

you gonna have to use the hood cam, bumper cam, roof cam, chase cam

i repeat its hard to believe! but kaz was not happy with the quality of the generic cockpits so they scrapped it completely, they also scrapped the stunt arena and gym khaya events but added karts meant for gt6,

Motorcycles and premium car dlc is a rumour currently
but the plus side is that the gt5 cockpits will be scalable to ps4 meaning at least ehy dont have to recreate all the cockpits again.

Im expecting gt6 to be the actual completion of gt5 lol!

That’s a shame though, I can’t remember what game I played, I think it was on a portable system like PSP or iPhone where the system couldn’t handle a lot of graphics, so they just made a sort of… dark blurred dash shape at the bottom and then used the slightly higher camera angle.

BUT for christs sake sony sort it out, you are letting the developer run riot. 5 years is long enough to make any game. Personally i think polyphony are shit scared of failing which they shouldnt be cos they have got a real class product!

@Lans LOL no, I am actually being serious. I just basically mean that I wish that they had come up with a system to have the in-car camera height with something generic just because I prefer the in-car angle so much more than the bumper cam.

Im obviously not saying the PS3 isn’t powerful enough to do in-car, I just mean that for that other game, where interior wasn’t an option, it was a nice simple touch to still give a similar effect and height.

they did actually make a blacked out interior for gt5, that was supposed to be generic for the standard cars, but it did not pass the submission stage, apparently kaz rejected it.

In the matter of fact it all comes down to the consumers to purchase what they want. There are no fanboys only you trollers make such remark. But ye forza looks nice too if only i got xbox 360..

I have forza3, I was going to use it as a fillin, while waiting for GT5, its a nice game. But I eventually went back to playing GT4 and TT, they just seemed more real, and it seemed like I could do more. What I really did like about Forza was being able to customise the cars, but beyond that its on about the level of GT3

The Fact that GT5 causes this much discussion means that its good, even though its not released.
If something was worse than what you already have, you don’t mention it, you don’t need to.

Something is seriously wrong with GT5, it can NEVER live up to the hupe the fanboys have put the devs in a real bad place.

The last GT5 demo released was just poor, the damage was terrible and it was glitched even after all this time !! the Forza 3 demo alone trounced it into the ground and the negative feedback they got must have been really bad.

If Forza 4 hits the shelves before GT5 it is as good as over, at the moment Forza 3 is by far the best driving sim on the market and if they get Forza 4 out first and the GT5 devs see it’s better than GT5 then they will have to put it back on the drawing board AGAIN.

    only in your mind
    lol
gt5 is just fine, dont stress
gt5 prologue sold 5 million copies
gt5 psp sold 2 million copies
polyphony only has 120 staff members plus they get supported by sony

even if gt5 sells 0 copies there will still be a gt 6 lol
Rbin clearly you cant take it anymore,
there is no problem, even if it does not live up to your lofty expectations its still a bigger step in innovation and scale from gt4 as opposed to forza

    Remember
    Forza 3 sold 3 million
    has over 300 staff members

Forza 4 is focusing on kinect and rally, and is coming out in 1 year?
Rbin do you really thing forza 4 can have more content than gt5 in 1 year?
