Gran Turismo 5 – Watch A GT-R Deal With Some Heavy Rain

Gran Turismo 5 is the final corner and is shifting down to prepare itself for a final explosion of power down the pit straight.

In other words, it’s nearly out and it’s looking so very, very good right now. Someone managed to spot this video of Gran Turismo 5 at the Tokyo Game Show that shows lap of Nissan GT-R in the rain. Boy, oh boy does it look good.

You know in previous generation’s games, I really couldn’t care less about weather, it just made things more difficult.

These days with the weather system and effects in games like F1 2010 and Gran Turismo 5, the addition of droplets on the windshield, spray, haze and more means that a race has become a really great challenge and adds more to the game. Following closely behind another car with spray hitting the windshield and their lights being the only indicator of where they are can be incredibly exhilarating, not to mention atmospheric.

Check out the full gameplay video after the jump.

G27 mounted to a table. Hoping to throw out the shifter and get either a Lighting shifter or custom ACT Labs shifter. Love the paddles though.

I would kill for another decent setup, this time with steel gateshift and clutch

Looking for ideas to improve my setup. Thought that since your are such a GT die-hard I might pick up some worthy ideas. can’t really spend any money on my on a seat, so i am looking to construct one myself.

What i have noticed is not to chase the race, but just to concentrate on my line, get the braking correct and be tight in the corners. I hardly care about winning but to get the most realistic experience as far as possible

If you have the extra cash it is definitely worth investing in. It makes the world of difference. Playing any racing without a decent setup really does impact on the quality of enjoyment. Playing Forza with Kinect is a just not right.

Why not save some money and get a Frex wheel and hydrolic pedals.

Driving a good sim can sometimes be harder than driving a real car. I sounds stupid but with the proper setup there are so many things to concentrate on that you take for granted in normal everyday driving.

your philosophy is correct most of the time im the slowest of the fast guys, and i pressure them into mistakes, always good to be cool, i drive at 70% . i have problems concentrating for long periods so i do like to follow until there a few laps left. then i usually know if i can take em quite easy.

i try to take multiple lines during a race, as to keep my speed fast, when i follow the same lines lap after lap i end up going slower and slower lol!
