As many of you know, Gran Turismo creator and Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi is more than just a video game racing enthusiast; he’s also a real-life racing champion. It’s something he and his team amply demonstrated at the recent 24 Hours Nürburgring challenge by coming first in class. As you’d expect the 24 Hours Nürburgring is an endurance race around the infamous, 15 mile long serpentine track where teams of drivers take their chosen vehicle along the meanderous road in shifts over a 24 hour period.

A first in class win means Kaz and his team may not have won overall, but they cam first for cars in their class. Their weapon of choice? The Nissan GT-R. It’s obvious that these guys love racing and spend a lot of time doing it – which is possibly why they’re only capable of putting out one game in 6 years. Kaz had this to say on his personal twitter account: “The Nurburgring 24 hour race was dramatic and a lot happened during the last leg. Class victory goes to the GT-R. Thanks a lot for  the congratulatory messages. Time for the awards ceremony now.”
