Sony’s PlayStation Vita is not doing particularly well – not that Sony seems to be too concerned. It’s a beautiful piece of hardware – but what it really needs right now is a unique and interesting game; something that can’t be found on other platforms.

Gravity Rush, from Sony’s Japan Studio, could be that game.

Released in the US yesterday, with a European release this week (and a south African one on June 22), Gravity Rush tells the story of Kat, a young woman, who finds that she’s able to control the forces of gravity. Dreamlike and surreally beautiful, Gravity Rush will have you flying through the air, switching directions mid-fall; manipulating gravity in an open world from the comfort and safety of the Vita’s wonderful screen.

Said to be inspired by – of all things, Crackdown – it’s just the sort of exclusive that the Vita needs. Here’s its launch trailer.
