Sometimes, hands-on previews of a game work against it. that’s what happened with Shinji Mikami’s Tango Gameworks and Bethesda’s Evil Within, the survival horror that’s supposed to be a return to form for a the genre. After a recent press hands-on and showing at PAX, the general tide swayed from one of positivity, to one of general boredom. ‘s still early days though, so here’s hoping that they’ve taken that negative sentiment, and are making a better game.
Here are some shiny new screenshots for the game. It looks like good stuff – but we’ll have to wait until we actually play it before we’re able to decide.
As an old-school Resident Evil fan, I’m really hoping The Evil Within proves itself to be a worthy addition to the genre. I’d love for it to be a sort of spiritual homecoming for Mikami, and for Japanese survival horror developers in general.
It’s coming to the PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4 in August this year.

Remember TV games are for kids.
I would post that video of the child crying with joy after his dad gave him a copy of GTAV. But I am more adult than that. I would not want to destroy his innocence.

I wonder if actual survival horror is not better coming from smaller studios. They need to be quite focused to work properly & big studies often want to make things appeal to more gamers, often by watering down the mechanics to achieve that.

The take a nice concept. Think that by tacking on some popular CoD bullshit will make it even BETTA, and then wonder why people piss themselves, not from Horror or fear, but from non-belief.

People need to realise that AAA Videogames are actually made by suits.
The story of how Glen Schofield had to fight the EA execs tooth and nail to get his project DEADSPACE a greenlight is a perfect example of how little power these DEVs actually have. It ended up being a side project.

lol on a side note. Remember how EA told Dana White to bugger off with his UFC game because to them it is not a real sport?
Well, how much money is EA going to make now thanks to THQ folding?
