GT5 is out, and is in the strange position of being both incredibly praised, and severely lambasted. Some of the reasons for complaint may be removed though!

Speaking to fans utilising the magic of Twitter, Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi detailed some of the new features and changes that may make their way in to the racing game simulator.

Some of them may (or may not) be included in the games next full update, which’ll be coming later this month.

One such feature is the addition of a direct-to-Youtube uploading feature. Apparently this was originally in the game, but removed as a result of memory limitations. It may make it’s way back in though. Another is the removal of the HUD for those who want an even more realistic simulator experience. Kaz indicated that they’d likely implement it.

For those complaining about the online play and its lacklustre lobbies, Yamauchi said that the team is planning on adding lounge features, as well as a credits and experience system, making for a much more robust online feature-set.

More serious racing fans among you with those wildly expensive Logitech G25 and G27 steering wheels will be happy to know that they plan on adding more support for those devices.

Features that didn’t  – and likely wont make it in to the game?? Yamauchi said that they wanted to include a free-roam sandbox mode that would allow players to cruise around a city. Unfortunate that it won’t be coming, because that’s the sort of lazy Sunday driving I’d be pretty keen to do. Head-tracking in modes other than arcade also aren’t possible unfortunately, a result of more memory limitations.

No particular information regarding when these updates will go live, but consider how long it took for the game to see retail, it may be a while.

I am really liking the direction gt5 is heading in, this is the first time, i’ve seen kaz react so quickly to the masses, online and DLC will be the two best things to happen to gt5!

i only hope that they don’t fragment the user base to much with all these huge patches, PD should really look at Modern Warfare 2 and Autolog implementation if they can combine those styles online they could create a game as addictive as Call of Duty and WOW!
