GT5 Intro Video… this isn’t making it onto any top 10 lists

1 min read

We’re seeing enough packshots and video’s of GT5 in the wild to now know that the game is done, in retailers and just waiting for the rest of the distribution line to catch up before going on sale.

I have asked our local reps for more information but there isn’t any at the moment, it’s all stop until Sony tells us more.

However someone has it and they have uploaded the entire seven minute intro onto Youtube for us to see.

The first 4 minutes are mind nummingly bad and basically just shows us how a car is made all the way from when the metal is being mined until the robots do their welding.

It’s like some weird flash back to the 60’s and I struggled to force my ADHD affected brain to keep watching it, then after 4 minutes it starts showing us some in game footage and changes the track to something less painful but by no means fantastic.

If you’re getting GT5 then watch this trailer now and skip it when you put the disc in.

For what I consider great gaming trailers check out an earlier feature I posted on my top 10 cinematic trailers.

    bias much?
I think the intro was terrific, a nice build up and fantastic in game footage, not the best gt5 trailer but it does its job, shows you what to expect

I have yet to see any other racing game intro that has ever managed to peak such interest ever!

Forza intro?, Grid Intro?, F12010 intro? Dirt2 intro?
those trailers all sucked the big one, yet if its gt5 i hear the words mind numbingly bad and not fantastic?

i thought being objective means to take the viewers feelings into consideration instead of basting the article in your bias. If you don’t like the game have nick do the articles, he seems to like it more, and its more interesting getting news from someone who is genuinely excited for the game.

im not trying to anger you it just really seems like you dont like this game at all, that is the impression im getting.

I’ve always been a GT fan, but I have to disagree with you here.

The first 4 minutes of the intro is totally pointless. As soon as they start showing the racing footage, the intro actually gets interesting.

7 minutes for an intro? Seriously, you don’t think that’s a bit long? I hope you can actually skip this and not be forced to watch it.

They could have cut away the first 4 minutes and just shown the last 3 minutes and still have enough time to show all their credits.

The intro was different, managed to show some emotion and show gt has evolved, remember all previous gt trailers have been amazing i think the intro serves a purpose, it is kaz intention to make a point, i think to get you in the right frame of mind, after such a long wait, gt5 has too much content to show in an intro i think this is a nice solution.

@Werner GT5 also has a completion trailer that shows credits

i don’t see anything bad about this trailer the effects where amazing when i saw the LFA i was blown away, when i saw the Mercedes SLS being pitted at night i was blown away, when i saw the camaro vs corvette i was blown away. I think this game appeals to people with a more mature palette

@mark don’t worry about them, they think they harming the game, there only contributing to its popularity and ultimately make the game more successful and well known.

All the GT hate will translate into sales, there alot of turn coats who will ridicule this game to no end when the game finally ships, and its great the gonna jump on the band wagon and pretend like nothing ever happened

I’m don’t disagree with you in regards to the artistic side of the intro. Yes, it “shows emotion” and yes, it’s a nice touch to see where the vehicle come from.

I’m saying the length of the intro is a bit long. Most people will get bored way before it’s done and will bail out way before the 7 minutes are up so they can just play the game.

So much for trying to be objective. Well, then, I’ll also be honest: Gavin, your opinion is extremely biased and therefore not of much use to the public.

The game is a driving simulator, for people that obviously has a passion for cars. I really enjoyed the intro and admit, it is a bit long winded. But the only that that is mind numbingly bad is your article.

Luckily, I also have a choice to skip your articles and, just like you have the choice to skip the intro 😉

I understand your point exactly, although I don’t agree. Even if the game doesn’t appeal to you, or you don’t like how the intro is done, does not mean that it is bad. You don’t like doesn’t equal bad.

I don’t like Alonso (just had to get it in!), Halo or Assassin’s Creed, but I’m not saying Alonso is a bad driver or that the other two are bad games. Of course you are entitled to your opinion, and obviously that is one of the biggest “pulls” of Lazygamer, but being openly biased doesn’t do yourself or the site any good.

The key to maintaining different identities/personas is to make sure that each one has a different voice or nuance, merely changing a name isn’t enough, because invariably your personality will carry through, and be reflected in your writing style.

It’s easier if you create one persona that’s opposed to another, but when they have the same interests, it’s more difficult to keep them separate.

Honestly I think the idea that the Intro belongs to a completed game (hopefully)is making people more excited than the actual intro itself, If that had any other name plastered to it there would be no debates going on, we would all agree…. kak.

Yes that saying is true, but I fail to see how it holds up to this intro.

Yes we can all agree that GT5 will make sweet digital love to ours eyes right before our face melts off from all the sheer awesome it will give us.

If you and others feel the intro is a good one great, but at the same time there are others that feel it’s not.

For a medium that is supposed to run on entertainment, this intro does nothing for me. I am one of those people that love the cutscenes in games, I am just horribly disappointed in this Intro.

Will I still get the game yes, will I skip the intro absolutely, if I can’t I’ll go make a cup of coffee while the Intro bores anyone that dares walk past the TV in the interim…

The thing is, this video is for a driving sim, which means it is intended to be viewd by a certain demographic. If your a driving sim fan, theres every chance that your a petrol head, and will enjoy the video. If your an arcade racing fan, then you may find the video too sombre for your liking, and if your not a racing fan at all, why watch the trailer?

Anyway, my point is the video is fantastic for the game in question, and probably wouldnt work for other racing games, but for GT5 , it seems to make the build up to playing the actual game that much more epic and i for one, will certainly be viewing it when i get the game in all its HD glory.

Average people wont see and feel this so the video will have no impact. But for cars lovers, it’s perfect and absolutely awsome!

As far as I’m concerned, tho, shows like “How It’s Made” are some of my favorite things to watch on TV, so I’m going to guess the first 4 min will be something I like. After all, I’ve watched TV shows specifically how they make the new Porche 911, Camaro, and the drool inducing Bugatti Veyron, and liked them all. ^_^
