Copies of Gran Turismo 5 are being reported in the wild which must mean that the release date is now right around the corner.
To back that idea up some more; the Spanish launch party which was originally planned for a week before the official launch has now been redated for the 24th of November. Leaving us with a very early December release date.
In related news distribution sources in France have revealed that that country has ordered over half a million copies of GT5 split into 450k standard copies, 100k collectors editions and 5 000 signature editions.
So it really does look like you will be getting your copy of GT5 this year after all.

@AC!D: I agree, 100%! People are NEVER happy.
@eXp: My Internet connection could download that in 2 min. Oh well. It’s going to be the long install that is going to suck, because that’s how PS3 games work overall.

Oh I hope this job I’m interviewing for today comes through… Then I’ll be sure to get a whole bunch of games, including this, that I won’t have time to play. ^_^

Does it say on the cover that it is only a 1 player game?
No offline multiplayer?

@Big Bird the picture is a fake, from a user called ForzaStinks on GTplanet, when asked to provide positive confirmation of the matter he has been extremely defensive, I don’t think you should read too much into the cover just yet,
Gt5 always will have LAN Multiplayer, Kaz came just short of confirming it, but there is LAN on GT5, since GT4 even
Cloud Strife
November 8, 2010 at 17:51
@Big Bird offline LAN, and Split Screen, hopefully up to 16 players on LAN

@exp i will buy a second hand copy off you for R200 day on launch, you can rely on a quick payment in cash, ill even deliver it straight to your doorstep, where do you live?

Who really honestly cares if a game has LAN capabilities? What am I supposed to do, lug my PS3 downstairs to play on a small tube TV while my friend plays it on his 70″ HDTV? This is not “local multiplayer” in any functional way.
Local multiplayer would be split screen.
Cloud Strife
November 8, 2010 at 18:03
LAN capabilities is for tournament play, ie 16 players and up, it will be good for competitions and sleep over LAN with your friends who have their own racing rigs and LCD monitors with DVI/HDMI
-No cockpit in split screen
-plus the framerate takes a dip in split screen
GT4 had this feature and has been used for many tournaments it supported, it supported 6 players and i would prefer to race this way.

@Cloud:
– Frame rate reduction: Probable, but this is only a guess at this point.
– Yeah, it’s not as good as having the screen to yourself, but seriously…
LAN has NO bearing at all on most people. Most of us will not be in a tournament situation. There is NOTHING that you can say that makes me think LAN is important to me at all. I have never once played a console game via LAN, and likely never will.
But my friends and I tend to like to play games together a lot, and many recent racing games do not have split screen, so we have to play online (which kind of sucks when we’re all together) or we don’t play at the same time, no competition past time trials. You may not like it, but my friends and I have been seriously wanting a good racing game to have split screen, and we’re very happy about it.
I also think a 70″ TV is going to give a large enough view for both of us, a luxury I have by walking downstairs.
Now please, stop trying to convince me that LAN play is going to make even the slightest difference in my life.

700Mb?
So 87.5MB?!?! Not a big deal really. Not that I’m being pedantic.

Thanks for being so nice, but I do have to stick to LAN not being used by people very often at all.
Although I do need to correct myself. Technically I did play Halo 1 online, using what the Xbox thought was a LAN connection to my PC, and then to other players using the same software… It’s been a long time, I can’t remember what that was called, but I think it’s still around.

@Big Bird apparently the copy is legit, the user uploaded his video, if you interested have a look
http://www.gtplanet.net/first-leaked-gran-turismo-5-gameplay-video/#comments
so im not sure what the one player means. it might mean no lan support, maybe only split screen :C

November 8, 2010 at 18:52
@ Luna Sounds like you used a dedicated server for Halo. yes most people will use split-screen most of the time, im a bit extreme i have not lost a race against anyone in real life, and if i lost i want it to be on a racing rig, i don’t like excuses, like blaming the tv if i lose.
My friends are the same the bitch they can’t see anything on the screen.

@Cloud: I did a bit of a searching to refresh my memory, and the program is called XBConnect. If you run it on your PC, it creates a “tunnel” over the Internet to talk to other Xboxes, making them think they’re just on a LAN. So if the game has LAN support, you can play it online for FREE, no Xbox Live needed! It even supports voice for games that do…
I think it works with the 360 as well, but the last time I used it was with an Xbox 1 when I couldn’t afford to have Live. It worked very well, but had a slight learning curve on how to actually get connected. After all, it’s only tricking your console. ^_^
I know there was one for Wii as well, and I betchya that someone made one for PS3 too, even though it’s not really needed since online play is free.
It’s pretty cool tech. ^_^

@Luna cool,i used to be into things like that until i accidentily flashed my psp buttons with custom firmware, and got my Xbox 360 banned from live for testing out games before i buy them.

Its not official yet but retailers are starting to list PS3 around the black friday weekend at the end of November and games usually release on the friday in South Africa a few days later. I think the official announcement is coming on the Sony Blog tomorrow so keep your fingers on that refresh button.

Oh I know. I’m Japanese, but I’m living in the US now, so I have a lot of first hand experience. ^_^ I just like this site a lot, and like getting involved with most of you. 🙂
So yeah, Black Friday is weird this year. A LOT of retailers have been having “Black Friday sales every week!” as one of them said. So it’s not as good as it used to be, but a few years ago, I got an $80 Bluetooth headset for $20, and it pairs to two devices, PS3 and my phone. 🙂
BTW, Black Friday is torture for those who work in retail…
