GTA V Avatars and Gamerpics

Love GTA?  Want to show your excitement about GTA V with everyone else?  Well, now you can get PSN or Xbox LIVE Avatars that say it loud and proud.

Rockstar has launched its GTA V set of avatars and gamerpics; you can choose from Michael, Trevor, Franklin, Chop (the Rottweiler), a lovely blonde or one of two variations of the Grand Theft Auto V logo.  Also, Xbox Live is offering some GTA V themed outfits and items for your Xbox 360 avatar.  These are:

  • Bugstar Outfit (Men | Women)
  • Chop Pet
  • FIB Outfit (Men | Women)
  • Grand Theft Auto V T-Shirt (Men | Women)
  • Abseiling Outfit (Men | Women)
  • Parachute Prop
  • Scuba Outfit (Men | Women)

What I really don’t understand though is that things like this used to be seen as marketing for the titles, I mean getting free t-shirts at events is one of those things that you pretty much just expect to happen. So how is it that Rockstar believe that they can actually charge for these things?

It’s not cheap either, the gamerpics are 80 MS Points (R5) but then if you want the full outfits you are going to have to shell out 320 MS Points and to add the dog to your picture it’s going to cost you another 240 points. So my dream of being FIB dude with a dog is going to set me back 560 points, which is around R80. It just feels strange paying to market their game to my friends.

Have you bought your ticket for the hype train?  I keep going in waves – the game looks s good, but I’m absolutely determined not to get swept up in popular sentiment.  Pretty hard to do when popular sentiment may be right!

Yup, I’m all aboard the hype train, awaiting departure! Really looking forward to the new GTA – as much as I’ve loved some amazing games in the last few years, GTA IV was the first game of this generation that made me just wanna keep on gaming… “3am already and have to work in 4 hours? Who cares, keep gaming… 6am and need to get ready in an hour? Who cares, keep gaming! Hey, that’s what energy drinks are for…” Fantastic game.

And GTAV, from everything I’ve seen of it so far (the numerous vids and articles all over the place), looks like it could well exceed all previous GTA titles… Cannot wait to get stuck into that world!

With regards to the whole “pay for their stuff to help advertise to your friends”, I’m not really a fan of the principal but I’ll probably be first in line to buy them… Just can’t help myself… And that’s probably what they’re banking on with most people.

Shit, I’m not a GTA fan, and I was not planning on any other game besides Rayman for my PS3 before PS4, but I think I’ll go pre order GTA V today… Can’t deny that it looks awesome..

Is this an infinite loop? Purchase avatar, money goes to marketing budget, goes to TV adverts, leads to Avatar clothing and accessories. Like a hair dryer.

I tried, two nights ago, for the first time to “customise” my xbox. I thought some nice space ships or something. You have to pay for that crap? Nah, I do not think so.

Themes that cost 80 points may as well cost 8000 points for the interest I will show.

Did I miss the free ones?

Stupidity got the better of this person, R* does not decide on what to charge for their merchandise for avatars and profile pictures, Microsoft’s LIVE department creates the merchandise and also decides on the price, they receive the payment when someone buys it. it costs a lot of money to put anything up for free on the marketplace and being in the economy the Britain is going through I am willing to bet they’re saving every penny instead of wasting it.

The best thing in GTA V is outside missions, the player can swap between the protagonists and explore the game’s open world.GTA V will feature more vehicles than any GTA to date, including a variety of cars, trucks, bikes, helicopters, planes etc. Players will also be able to customize their vehicles, as well as adding various upgrades to weapons. I love to play GTA V.
