GTA V, quite possibly the biggest game of the year, is coming to consoles next month. While developer Rockstar and publisher Take-Two have remained mum on the possibility of a PC version of the game but certain things keep popping up that leads us to believe that a PC version will be coming sooner rather than later. Now, an Nvidia executive has said, nonchalantly, that GTA V is coming to PC.
“The PC market is evolving,“ Nvidia’s Senior IR Director Chris Evenden said in an earnings call. “As entry level laptops face pressure from tablets. Yet sales of specialty PCs like gaming systems and work stations continue to grow. The disparity reflects how consumers use these different classes of PCs. Many consumers look for PC as a general purpose device they can use for browsing, email, social media video. But much of this can be better served by a tablet. In contrast, gamers are preparing their systems for a strong roster of games coming this fall, including blockbuster franchises, such as Call of Duty: Ghosts, Grand Theft Auto V and Assassin’s Creed IV.”
Preparing their systems for whatnow? Does Nvidia know something we don’t? quite probably; they do have to ready their latest beta drivers for whatever the latest flavour-of-the-month video game so they tend to be in the know. Is this tacit confirmation of a GTA V Pc port, or just a misspeak; a slip of the tongue? It’s probably the former; according to Evenden, PC games is where the money is – and the platform will soon account for more income the PlayStation and Xbox sales combined.
Open platform such as PC and Android are outgrowing the world gardens of the traditional console market. They benefit from more innovation. Nearly half of the developers surveyed at GDC recently who are working on PC games compared only 11% on Next Gen consoles. PC game revenues are expected to reach around $20 billion annually by 2015, whereas the total for both PlayStations will be less than $10 billion and Xbox is only around half of that.
Of course, it could all still be sour grapes from the greener graphics card purveyor, who’s been left out of next-gen, with rival chip-maker AMD securing the contracts for the latest consoles from all of the big 3 console makers.
GTA V is out on PlayStation3 and Xbox 360 on September 17.

As long as they port it right. GTAIVPC is still regarded as one of the most poorly optimized games for PC. Beast PC’s built in 2013 can still struggle to run it, at no fault of the hardware.

Ye but regardless, play it on PS3/XBOX360 and then play it on PC, res is way higher and it just looks way better in general

I almost placed my pre-order yesterday for GTAV but changed my mind when I couldn’t decide which platform to purchase for. I think I’m just gonna wait it out and get the PC version now.
Great to hear that the PC platform is doing so well!

Been saying it for years AMD/ATI FTW… Not because i am a fanboy, but because I have never had an issue… I have abused the components, OC’d them, run them hot etc, and the stuff just keeps on working…

560 ti is a great card. It will run for many more years if you scale your settings accordingly.
