GTA V is going to look even better on PC soon

GTA IV was a mess of a port when it initially released on PC, and it took a long time for the game to actually break playable levels. It also wasn’t that visually enhanced in comparison to the console version, which made a lot of room for some crafty modders to get their hands dirty. The most famous mod around for the sandbox title was the iCEnhancer – a mod that is soon debuting for GTA V too.

The iCEnhnacer mod did some incredible things with GTA IV. Models were re-textured and beefed up, lighting was almost entirely overhauled and it essentially made the game into the true PC port it deserved to be (with an alarmingly taxing footprint to boot). GTA V, however, suffers from none of the issues GTA IV had. It’s a gorgeous, well-optimised piece of digital art – but it could always be better.

And while the iCEnhancer is only in its early stages for the game, there are already some notable improvements. Primarily taking aim at draw distances with fog reduction, motion blur disabling and better lighting, the mod for the single-player component puts it a little notch above Rockstar’s own handy work.

Given a few months (and probably years), and who knows what GTA V could eventually end up looking like (especially now that Rockstar is completely fine with single-player mods). It always fascinates me how the plateau we all expect to arrive at any given time might actually be a lot further way than we think. GTA V is, for now, the most impressive game visually I’ve seen on a PC – and already it’s being made better.

We know nothing it seems.
