When it comes to ambitious titles, Rockstar has never shied away from pulling out all the stops. So far, they’ve been successful, with titles such as Red Dead Redemption, Bully and of course, Grand Theft Auto garnering rave reviews and awards.
For GTA V, Rockstar isn’t planning on scaling back their designs, with Company Founder Sam Houser claiming that it will their “largest and most ambitious” game ever.
Company founder Sam Houser has called the future game "another radical reinvention of the Grand Theft Auto universe."
Speaking at a press release earlier, Houser confirmed that the game will take place in the city of Los Santos—the GTA version of Los Angeles from Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, as well as "the surrounding hills, countryside and beaches."
The press release describes the game as taking place "in a re-imagined, present-day Southern California", although its uncertain yet if the San Francisco-inspired San Fierro will be present as well.
With claims that GTA V will be "a bold new direction in open-world freedom, storytelling, mission-based gameplay and online multiplayer," and a focus on "the pursuit of the almighty dollar", Rockstar are being ambitious with their goals, but then again, the developer has pulled off such feats before.
There’s no indication yet from Rockstar regarding a release date, or who players will even play as, but it will be interesting to see how the developer pulls off the multiplayer in such a massive open world, when GTA V does eventually launch.
