GTA V’s soundtrack has “20 movies worth of score”

I’ve always enjoyed the radio stations of GTA, something that has kept me playing for way longer than necessary ever since the days of GTA 3. Listening to Lazlo berate guests, those crazy ads and waiting for a LoveFist song to start blaring is something that only GTA fans will know about. And in GTA V, expect the biggest soundtrack ever to come out of that game.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Rockstar’s soundtrack supervisor Ivan Pavlovich explained that GTA V will have “20 movies worth of score” in the game, with 240 licensed songs, 15 radio stations and two talk radio stations in the mix. “It’s the largest soundtrack that we’ve done, and the largest score that we’ve done”, Pavlovich said.

For this game, which is set in our version of modern day Los Angeles, what was important for us was to capture that feeling of L.A. and California. We approached the radio stations as the musical soundscape [you experience] as you fly into L.A.

One of the things we’ve never done in a GTA game before is a pop station; exploring that made so much sense in the context of L.A.

As usual, expect this GTA to have all manner of music, from classic through to Mexican, as well as the rock music that I do so enjoy so much thanks to the fact that I’m still stuck in 1985. Combined with the original music that’ll be in GTA, part of which comes from Red Dead Redemption and LA Noire composer Woody Jackson, and there’s plenty of audio floating around this game

I loved just driving around San Andreas and listening to the stations. Can’t wait for this game.

Listening to Gansta Rap while being a Gansta really just was perfect to me.

Rollin’ up with the lo-rider, bouncy bouncy with Snoop Dawg/Lion.

CJ was cool because he was defending his honour. It was the bent cop (Sam L Jackson) that forced him to do most of the shit.
Franklin and gang are all selfish thieves. Like the dudes in HEAT.

I’ll give GTA that, their radio stations are always quite amazing. GTA 3 had me listening to “Rush-Rush Do-dee yeyo” way too much. The only thing that gets me about GTA 5 is the price tag. That R800.00 buys a lot of bread…

It’s R600 at Kalahari for the PS3. So you can get the game and have money left for some bread.

Oh! Actual bread. I thought it was a synonym for something else:)
Ok. So GTA5 and a lot of the normal bread.

If Guitar Hero had to fold because the royalties of 70 songs per CD had to sell 6 million copies to break even then I hate to thing how much GTAV must cost to make.

I heard that GTAIV was just over 100million and Red Dead was 60million.

I am positive that GTAV is on par with AVATARS production costs.
