Breaking the Law

Some days, I want to rock ‘n roll all day. And maybe party every night. You know what I mean? While my last attempt at becoming a rock…gawd ended in tears, burnt hair and our bass player being vivisected (enh, it was only a bass player no real loss), I did relive some of my glory days in the Guitar Hero games. But now I’m ready to make a comeback baby! I’m getting what’s left of the band out of their graves and into their leotards! I’m getting ready…TO ROCK!

Activision have unveiled the first selection of songs for the game (Thanks Rolling Stone!), with more licensed tracks being promised every Tuesday. As you’d expect, it’s a wide choice of classic rock anthems and songs that’ll make you feel like an old man when you realise you have no idea who half these bands are:

  • Judas Priest – “Breaking the Law”
  • Pantera – “Cowboys From Hell”
  • Alter Bridge – “Cry of Achilles”
  • Rage Against the Machine – “Guerrilla Radio”
  • Red Hot Chili Peppers – “Higher Ground”
  • Sleigh Bells – “Bitter Rivals”
  • System of a Down – “Chop Suey!”
  • Black Veil Brides – “In The End”
  • The Pretty Reckless – “Going to Hell”
  • Broken Bells – “Leave it Alone”
  • Alt-J – “Left Hand Free”
  • The Rolling Stones – “Paint it Black”
  • My Chemical Romance – “Na Na Na”
  • Fall Out Boy – “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)”
  • Green Day – “Nuclear Family”
  • Pierce the Veil – “King for a Day (feat. Kellin Quinn)”
  • Blitz Kids – “Sometimes”
  • The Black Keys – “Gold on the Ceiling”
  • The Killers – “When You Were Young”
  • Gary Clark Jr. – “Don’t Owe You a Thang”
  • The War on Drugs – “Under The Pressure”
  • The Lumineers – “Ho Hey”
  • Ed Sheeran – “Sing”
  • Skrillex – “Bangarang”

BREAKING THE LAW! BREAKING THE LAW! BREAKING THE LAW! I’m personally a fan of the older generation of rock music, which is mostly due to the fact that my father took any contemporary music that I purchased as a kid and used it for target practice. Thanks dad! Guitar Hero Live is out in the northern Autumn on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, WiiU, iOS and Android.

No. Lyrics such as these might upset:
Taken from punk band One Bad Pig’s song Never forget the Cross

Old times are hazy, oh I was crazy
I was more than just a little deranged
When Jesus found me, He did astound me
My heart and mind He has totally changed
I dont remember all the times I lied
Cant recall all the days I failed
Dont remember all the people I hurt
But cant forget the Hands I nailed

            Never forget the cross
            (x4)

      Was just about to ask.

They probably want you to put the guitar in the blender and turn it on/off at certain points.

        Reminds me of a joke.
Q: What is green and the touch of a button turns red?
        A: A frog in a blender.
Q: What is green and at the touch of a button stays green?
A: A frog with amazing tap dancing skills.

I agree that it shouldn’t be on the list because it is electronic music, not guitar. But like heavy metal and all sorts of other genre’s it’s not for everyone. I personally like Skrillex and it really makes for an epic party!

Ya no prob dude, different notes for different folks. I personally prefer my music on the Heavy Metal side of things. Playing a Skrillex solo will prob be something like playing a Dragon Force solo. finger breaking speeds! good luck to us all!

    I know most but the ones I don’t :
alt-J but that song pretty cool.
Black Veil Brides looks like Nickelback and Manson has a love child but they’re not too bad.
The Pretty Reckless isn’t for me
Broken Bells is pretty mellow and can be used as a breather between the hard songs
I’ll check the rest later but it seems like a decent list with a nice mix of old and new songs with a few that clearly doesn’t belong.

I had my keyboard ready to rant about the shit music, but then realized it’s actually quite decent. Breaking the Law and Cowboys from hell has some of the sickest guitar riffs ever. Not to mention some epic Black Keys in the mix. Also The Pretty Reckless is actually a very awesome band, some sick riffs and wow can that girl sing! O_O
