Guitar Hero: World Tour – First Trailer

I really, really hate it when game companies make these really lame adverts in attempt to look cool instead of giving us something worthwhile, like actual gameplay footage.

This video is from Gametrailers.com where they featured the World Premier Trailer for the new Rockband, oh, I mean err, Guitar Hero game.

I guess they decided to stick with the name “Guitar Hero” as “Rock Hero” sounds too similar to Rockband and, oh well, they are ripping the whole concept off anyway, so why even bother. In the video they make a point to emphasise the games features such as “Most realistic drums” and “Biggest Artists”. I do think that this game has a lot of potential, but I think it’s just not cool that they have so brazenly ripped off the concept of Rockband, only seeking to have better features.

Where is the innovation people? One thing that does look interesting though, is the apparent ability to “Record and release your own singles”. I’m interested to see how they are going to approach something like that.

I have to disagree, working in the industry you start to learn how things take off, and develop over time.

the fact of the matter is that games don’t manifest over night but idea’s do and I think it’s always been the intention of Guitar Hero eventually encorporating a “Full Band” Scenario, what you also have to consider is that RedOctane is in partnership with both Activision and EA, so the technology is the same, although I’m sure there are strict NDA’s as to who get’s to see what technology and at the end of the day, you might find that Activision where smarter in being patient with their tech and giving it more time to develop into a stronger, franchise… where as we’ve seen before EA is a 1 year out now franchise.

I’m sure that Guitar Hero 4 has been in development a lot longer than Rock band they just chose not to release it sooner.

and this goes for a lot of games we see today so saying it’s an out right “rip” off is/could be completely unjustified. besides where else is there to go with a music franchise but more instruments?

Well for example, they could release the game with a |wireless| syringe that allows you to shoot up whenever possible. Then throw in 8 bottles of rum and a blow up groupie. The band should fall apart and then you will have to pick a solo career to carry on with, until you hit rock bottom and regroup to form a comeback album. The game should then generate bad press and also release a tabloid article that says you died, even though you didn’t. After that the game should make you sell your house and live on the streets for a couple of months.

Now that’s an innovative band sim!

It is indeed the wrong Vid.

Okay let me get things going then, Id like to hear some other thoughts on which direction Guitar Hero should have gone and what innovation other than what they have done should have been done. I mean how much lattitude does one have when it comes to innovation arround a band or musical instrument. When I saw this I was WOW cant wait to try it out, who cares if Rock Band had theirs out first, actually where is Rock Band???? 🙂 Is this a flamebait thursday ? LOL

I personally would of preferred a more “realistic” guitar. Give us more buttons, maybe split the current buttons into two and then add more down the fret table and maybe give us more strum triggers. that would be cool. A distortion pedal would be cool too.

But on the other hand, if GH4 comes here before Rock Band I will be getting it.

    The video has been fixed.

In all honesty, I think this game is looking hot as hell and I am probably going to buy it even if it releases the same time as Rockband because the features are looking cool and it looks like you will be able to do free play where you can play your own tunes.

I feel that rockband is a rip-off of guitar hero.

Nick I love your band sim idea 🙂 HAHAHA GRAND THEFT GUITAR HERO 🙂 haha

Messiah the risk of making instruments more realistic starts marginalising the casual/fun gaming market often more realistic = loss of fun for everyone. (Obviously I am generalising) I like where the comments are going now 🙂

Uh, is it just me or is there a severe case of reality distortion in this thread 🙄 ❓

Rock band isn’t a Rip-off of GH, it’s it’s successor. RB & GH were developed by the same developers but under different publishers!

For that reason “GH4” drum game could never have been in development because there was no “prior development” on GH by Neversoft, GH3 was just catch up to Harmonix, who left the franchise after GH2.

What worries me is that it’s now “me too time”. Konami has announced “Rock revolution” which is a shocking bad “All 80’s rock cover band tunes” rip off of Rock band. I’m worried the genre is going the way of DDR.

As far as I heard GHero was trying to do that and Rock Band snubbed it ?
