Hackers attack and deface the Xbox and PlayStation Twitch channels

Hackers

I genuinely don’t get certain hackers. There’s a  difference between uncovering hidden information, and being a spiteful little bastard who makes life hell for everybody. And that level of douchebaggery is something that the Xbox, PlayStation and Electronic Sports League have just experienced.

Hackers broke into the Twitch channels of the big two in gaming as well as the ESL, leaving various obscenities in their wake. If you want to see the genius intellect of a hacker with nothing to lose and the sudden realisation that they can use certain curse words as an adjective, here’s a screen capture from VG247. NSFW, of course.

That however, was easily reversible once the relevant parties regained control of their channels. What isn’t so salvageable however, is the fact that the hackers erased many, many videos belonging to the various party.  Twitch has disabled those sections of the channels affected, until some action can be taken. “We’re deleting the offensive VODs as soon as we find them and are alerting individual teams at the venue,” Twitch explained to Polygon.

As a precautionary measure, we temporarily removed highlights and past broadcasts for those channels since it’s in the early hours of the morning in Cologne.

That’s a damn shame. Whether the hackers gained access with super-l33t skills or just exploited a security loophole is unclear, but someone is going to have some explaining to do. Meanwhile, a big round of applause to the vile little trolls for showing Microsoft and Sony what for, by killing a ton of entertainment for people who aren’t caught up in a petty and non-existent console dick-measuring competition.

Apparently they got access to logged on machines at GamesCom and went on a rampage because of the whole Tomb Raider exclusivity thing? If true, unfortunately just again proves that today’s gamers are a bunch of entitled douchebag little bitches that throws tantrums whenever they don’t get what they want! ????

Twitch was bought by Google and having DRM issues.
Microsoft bought a title game from SE.
Sony is just a big corp popular now with the PS4.

So yeah. Fight the power. Fight the corps. Fight the greed.
