Halo 3 extras on the way

Bungie has confirmed that some new gametypes and maps are on the way.

Work is progressing on new maps for future downloadable content, with the design and art teams vigorously engaged in the process,” the update reads. “More entertainingly however, the ad-hoc test team of Bungie staff is enjoying these new maps greatly. My favourites are what I have already nicknamed Jodrell Bank and Moonbase Alpha

So while not stating how many maps are coming we know that we are going to be getting at least two, I really really hope they don’t charge to much for these however and especially that Germany doesn’t find an issue with them.

Ranked Halo is going to be terrible if we can only join every 3rd game due to us not having the maps…

Well knowing MS, we are not going to get those maps. Look what they did to the GoW map packs after all.

Okay Gavin, what you need to understand is the German government hates violent/mature (ie Sex, gore, nudity) games, they believe it leads to violence in people. Now any game with a rating of M for mature or AO for Adults Only is banned in the country so are games with a rating of 18+.

Now because of this, the poor people in Germany can’t buy/play GoW, legally anyways. Germany has Live. We means they can access everything, including those maps. However, Microsoft with the spring dashboard update of 2007 they blocked content to Germany and in doing so blocked mature content to countries without Live.

The only problem is they have seemed to only block select items, and not everything else. You were one of the lucky people that downloaded the maps before the update.

Now if you had to go get your box swapped out, and you forget to keep your HDD. You won’t be able to download the maps.

Thanks XennoX, sorry I was struggling to get online to answer. To sum up what XennoX said, the censors in Germany had a paddy about under 18’s being able to download these updates so Microsoft changed the rules to only allowed specified countries to get the downloads. So we lose out since we are not officially supported.

Yes and no, it’s not a blanket ban. XBL rules are sort of “Available to” so things that are rated as “all regions” we can access without any issue, however when one region restricts it – like the aforementioned maps, the rule changes to “allow in the following countries…” unfortunately, because we have no designated Live region, we don’t get “allowed”.

    Hence SayyourSay.com was born.
