When Halo 4 was teased at this year’s E3, it was rumoured to become a launch title for Microsoft’s next console. It was given a little credence with the announcement of Halo Anniversary, an HD remake of the 10 year old game that reignited console gamers’ passion for first-person shooters. It would make complete sense for the next numbered game in the seminal series to grace Microsoft’s as-yet-unannounced next-gen console – especially with all those rumours of a reveal next year.
Well it’s not happening.
343 Industries’ Frank O’Connor has laughed off rumours that Halo 4 is to be a launch title of the next Xbox.
“Halo 4 will be on Xbox 360 and use a modified core of the Halo engine,” said 343 Industries’ Frank O’ Connor on industry-favourite forum Neogaf, dispelling all rumours and breaking gamers’ hearts. Expect it to look better than Reach though, as it’s “Not really a singular engine since it goes through fairly radical evolutions all the time."
I’ve never really “gotten” Halo, but I certainly think it should be a launch title for the next Xbox. What better way to get all those “pew-pew-pew” loving fratboys to buy your console than a sexy new Halo?
