Halo Effect failed?

Well some suprising news doing the rounds this morning, it seems like all those reports of the Xbox 360 beating the Wii in September were a little pre-mature.

Now that most of the shops have handed in their exact figures we can actually see that the 360 just missed out on winning the month by 5000 units.

This is a blow for Microsoft but I don’t think they will lose to much sleep over it. They still managed to ship over 250k units which is nothing to be sniffed at.

They also moved 3.3 million copies of Halo 3 which is obviously going to be bringing in some real cash, I think Halo 3 still has the legs to keep selling as well so the Halo effect does exist. It just isn’t as pronounced as expected.

Heck, with the bunch of exclusive & multi-platform games coming in November any console’s sales will have a hike!

Actually I don’t think there is much of a Halo effect here in SA, Halo was never a big success in SA, so 3 wasn’t going to ever have the success as it would in the States or Europe. Especially since when it came out every friend on my list was almost playing it. Now it’s a different story I see more people playing all the old stuff.
