Have hackers stolen DayZ code?

zombiehackers

Despite being so ubiquitous as to be cliché, zombie games still abound. The most prolific at the moment, quite probably, is the online massively multiplayer survival one, DayZ. It’s a game that teaches players something very important; When it comes to survival humans can be a more terrifying threat than the undead. Humans are jerks. And they may have stolen DayZ’s source code.

A “hacker” of sorts claims to have thiefed the game;’s source code, which would open the thing up to all manner of invulnerability. “I’m the queen of England,” you might wittily reply – but an attack on its servers have been confirmed by developer Bohemia Interactive.

Information on the hack was posted up on unknowncheats.me, before summarily being removed, but it’s been saved for posterity by Google’s webcache and Reddit.

The alleged attacker, one, “DevDomo” posted pictoral evidence of access to Bohemia’s FTP servers. the company has since confirmed that they have “detected an attack ” on some of their servers but that  “the precise nature and scope of this attack is currently being extensively investigated.”

According to reports, the alleged hacker may have released a debugging tool for the game, which would mean that a game filled with human jerks might just be filled with more of them. If all of this is true, Sony Online’s  H1Z1 will start looking mighty appealing.

Good thing I didn’t buy the standalone then. Picked up Arma 2 bundle for 100 Rand, then just downloaded the Dayz mod.

Ya but they making sure that H1Z1 isnt pay to win, anything you buy in H1Z1 is purely cosmetic, they won’t allow u to buy weapons and bandages and such. Have to loot that stuff.

Plus having the ability to have several hundred people on a server at one time, credence to Planet Side 2

Yeah that was already discussed before. In Dayz clothing is an advantage in H1Z1 it is not. In DayZ cars will be authentic but will have a modification system to it in H1Z1 it won’t and you will be able to fix a vehicle in about 10 mins. In DayZ the maximum player limit will be about 200 with over 3000 zombies making zombies once more a threat in H1Z1 there will be thousands of players and no mention of zombie amount making it more a shooter than a survival game.

DayZ right now is not really perfect but at least they have confirmed amazing things.
H1Z1 looks a lot like WarZ and the stuff they have confirmed are not really spectacular.

That being said H1Z1 could turn out amazing but we will have to wait and see till both products get to RTM versions.

Gonna have to wait till the alpha and betas, then we will see if H1Z1 can tango with the big dogs. 🙂

I get that hackers do this sort of thing for “fun” and I suppose to confirm their sad, sorry, pathetic existences but why be malicious about it? Why not just leave a little easter egg or small sign in-game?

Hackers have plagued this game from launch. Source code or not, there’s already wallhacks, ESP, Aimbots, ammo scripts, etc.

It really does nothing to detract from the game’s enjoyment, though. You will die, regardless of hackers or not. Something will kill you, whether it’s a glitched zombie, eating the wrong berries or falling off a ladder. Everyone has their day. Valar Morghulis – all men must die.

Don’t let this deter you from playing DayZ, because it really is a great game. Especially if you’re with the right group of friends.
