Water

Remember that pretty incredible fluid-motion physics video we showed you earlier? Nvidia’s gone and released another two, and they’re just as impressive. While AMD is all focused on hair simulation with its TressFX tech, nVidia seems to be trying to play with water. Which impresses you more – and which do you think matters most to videogames?

Now imagine the first Bioshock, being made today with this kind of water simulation. I’m definitely leaning towards water being more beneficial to games than realistic hair – because it could actually have an effect on gameplay as opposed to just being eye-candy. My only issue? Both Nvidia and AMD will keep their new tech proprietary, instead of allowing it to be used as real middleware, so neither will have the impact the rightly should.

Never mind the Gaming benefits, the engineering applications for this is endless. Love it!

Definitely water. It’s always something I’ve wanted to see improve more than it has

Last time I checked Nvidia pledged full physx support for PS4 so maybe they are starting to share?
