Heavy Rain wasn’t possible on any other platform

During a developer session at Eurogamers Expo the Quantic Dreams founder and CEO, David Cage, was forced into answering that question that everyone loves to hate.

He was asked whether Heavy Rain could have been developed on any other platform and after a pause and a sigh (most probably thinking about articles like this) he admitted that he didn’t think so.

The PS3’s hardware and architecture apparently make it extremely powerful for dedicated PS3 engines that then allow you to create ultra realistic graphics… the downside is that you cannot then port this engine onto any other platform.

Normally I now go into a tirade about how it’s garbage to state that any game isn’t possible on any platform, but I like Heavy Rain and the audible sigh lets him off the hook this time.

I am really stoked to see how this game turns out.

Quantic Dream have had my undying love since Nomad Soul, one of the greatest games I’ve ever played. This is probably gonna be the straw that convinces me to get a PS3 from a donkey’s back… or something like that.

This is and Uncharted are probably the games that will get me to buy a PS3.

Don’t forget GT5 and God of War 3. ‘Tis a good time to get a PS3.

I loved Fahrenheit, can’t wait to see how this turns out. It might also push me to just get a PS3.

What a piece of garbage! Give me one SOLID reason why this game can’t be possible on any other platform… and don’t say “Because of the PS3 hardware and architecture…. blah blah” IF it is REALLY impossible to make it on Xbox 360 (still waiting for proof), then surely it can on PC? If not, then this guy has no idea what he is talking about, and has been paid to talk **** :wassat:

chill there M@GE, he said a port was not really possible, in that the game utilises the complexities of the ps3’s architecture, which neither the wii nor the 360 has… obviously!
what he was trying to get at, is that a straight port would not be possible, meaning a comprehensive rewrite would be needed in order for it to work on other consoles.
