Hello Games working to resolve No Man’s Sky bugs “as soon as possible”

Norman’s Sky No Man’s Sky is out, offering explorers, survivalists and space nuts the sort of game they could only dream about. With a game so expansive relying so much on mathematical wizardry, there are bound to be a few issues – not least of which is a bug that’s halting the progress of some players.

The small team at Hello Games is aware of all of the issues, and is busy trying to fix them. In a post, Sean Murray said the team is hard at work squishing space bugs.

“We’re tracking a number of issues, bugs and crashes that players are reporting, and working to resolve as soon as possible.”

In the post, Murray says that Hello Games has brought in a new QA team that’s larger than the team that made the game, and that there’ll be a patch coming soon to fix the most critical issues.

They’ve also given a few workarounds for some of the more pressing issues that exist.

  • If you believe you are stuck, or can’t reach your ship, be aware you can jetpack forever whilst pushing against any surface
  • If you have made a mistake – you can revert to any of your two previous saves in the Options Menu
  • If you have left your ship somewhere inaccessible, you will be able to summon it from landing pads or beacons found at most buildings or points of interest (marked by question marks)

They’ve also tackled the issue with the pre-order bonus not allowing players to continue playing – though they do seem to be downplaying its severity,

“It has been reported that using the pre-order bonus ship will leave some players stranded, if they purchase or transfer to a new ship that does not have a hyperdrive (if done very early in game). In most cases the player is actually able to continue (107 of the 135 reports emailed so far). The game already detects the player needs a hyperdrive and directs them to a nearby NPC who will give the player the hyperdrive they need. Some other players were able to resolve this issue by restarting their console.”

No Man’s Sky received a day one patch that didn’t just fix issues, it made sweeping changes to the game and its systems.

I saw a few streamers use the infinite jetpack quick fix to exploit in getting Gravatino balls fast and outrun the deadly sentries that spawn.

You fix that almost the same way as the hyperdrive bug – except you switch the console off instead of restarting it.

Unfortunately, My life as a freelancer never allowed me to get insurance. Working for a company now so as soon as I am secure, I will definitely consider that as a option. The question still stands. Another PS4 or Xbox S ?

Ah, yes. I asked beause I, in the past, have lost out by not claiming certain household things on insurance. For example, my homeowners insurance gives me two free appliance failure call-outs a year. Must use that, cause ultimately we are paying for it, right?

I have a Xbox One and I love it. So I am biased. But this page is about a PS4 game. If you liked the games on your PS4, how it worked and so forth, get another. If you want a change, try the Xbox One, it works for very for OTHER than gaming as well. Netflix and the like, supported by very, very good Xbox apps. Stream better to my Xbox than to my browser on laptop, pretty sure. With a slow internet line, Netflix worked on Xbox BUT not on laptop.

So, were you happy with PS4? I ask because you had one AND still ask the question

Yeah, I was pretty chuffed with my PS4. I have already owned and sold two Xbox one consoles ( too expensive to maintain two platforms even though I tried twice ). But, I am looking at it from the graphics update perspective. Seeing as it will be some time before the new PS4 comes along, I am intrigued by a faster Xbox.

I am lucky enough to have both consoles in my home and the PS4 is used about 80% of the time versus the Xbox. This is due almost entirely to the exclusives. If you were happy with your PS4 I’d say stick with it.

Exactly. Now if only Sony would release a decent controller so I don’t have to keep repairing thumbsticks (I blame Resogun)

Thx. I have the covers, hate them. The one set ruins the feel of the thumbsticks and the other feels too high. I’m a controller freak, it’s me, I know. The aluminium ones look interesting but grip might be an issue.

They have a ridged/toothy edge on the rim of the stick to prevent slipping. It works quite well to be honest unless you use the tip of your thumb for control. The center bit is smooth and can slip.

Sounds like you have good plan there. Now, to find the PS4 at the right price, the right bundle. Might as well get on special, the best bang for the buck and all that.

AND, my advice, get a small broker firm, like a one man show or something. They have deals with the big insurance guys and speak the right language. I pay less, through my broker, than I would through the same company directly. AND they pay the broker. Easy to check, called the company up and told them what I wanted, from my form THEY gave, to get a quote.

If you are an online player, play what your friends are playing. No point jumping platform if your mates arent on the same. If you are a solo player, best advice would be to look at the exclusives on each platform and make a call on what you would like to play more. Both platforms have really good stuff coming so it’s a tough call.

Fair enough, its different for everybody. In my case, I would stay PS4 because that’s where all my mates play. But in your case, it’s purely up what you feel hey dude. As I said, check out the exclusives and see what tickles your fancy more.

The flip side of that coin though is the Scorpio is out next year, and we havnt heard much about its VR capabilities yet. And currently the Scorpio is set to be a hell of a lot more powerful than even the PS Neo, assuming Sony haven’t changed the specs of Neo after seeing Scorpio. Also, if you are looking to get a new PS4, maybe just wait a bit and see whats happening with the Neo’s release as there is an event coming up soon where they seem to be doing the unveiling and release date confirmation.

depends, any PS exclusives you desperately still need to play?
you already have an established collection of games(Im assuming) on the PS4, so not getting one would be a waste of a game collection.
However, having played all the ps4 games you needed to, there is solid value in switching over and trying some of the xbox exclusives.

You make it sound like that’s a bad thing?

Look at 7 days to die. “Early access” title. Runs horribly on console. Redditors take flaming sh!ts on it almost daily. While I am genuinely dissapointed that ARK isnt coming to PS any time soon, I’m rather thankful that Sony are making a stand against this Early Access trend. Look at DayZ. Rocket himself said DayZ would be coming to PS4, 3 years later and you NEVER hear about DayZ anymore, let alone a console playable version. I played the Mod from week 1 on PC because thats all it was, a mod, which was free, for Arma 2 which I already owned. I was one of the first group to hit the SA servers and I put a stupid amount of hours into the mod and its many flavors. Never touched the standalone. Why? Because it was a broken and nearly unplayable early access mess before it even hit the ground with a $25 price tag.

Yes there are exceptions to this, and ARK is one of them, but the amount of people trying to make a quick buck based off of a market pleasing idea is unreal. Just take a gander at Steam Greenlight.

        Ark is glorious.
The game feels finished, more or less, and everything in the past 6-9 months has felt like free quality DLC.
Although, at a 1000 hours, you start wondering whats next.

but Im 100% with you on the shits like DayZ etc, so bad, I sad.

I played an average amount of Ark on PC and really enjoyed it, but DayZ Mod is still my most played survival game. Fully agree with you
