ACU patch

I thought Assassin’s Creed Unity was a great game in many ways, but was far too broken to really enjoy as it should have been. It is now getting another patch to try to fix some of the frame rate issues as well as difficulties in matchmaking for co-op play. Let’s see if Ubisoft will patch this thing to full functionality by the holidays.

You can read the full patch notes here, although there are references to specific missions so don’t read them if you’re trying to avoid spoilers. Patch 3 will aim to fix the following:

Stability and performance

  • Fixed numerous random crashes for both on Campaign and Co-op
  • Fixed specific framerate drops

Gameplay (navigation, fight, stealth)

  • Fixed navigation issues where the player gets stuck
  • Fixed haystack issues where the player can stay stuck in it
  • Fixed Cover issues
  • Fixed various camera issues
  • Fixed animation issues
  • Fixed some Booster issues

AI & Crowd

  • Fixed various animation issues
  • Fixed various detection issues
  • Fixed various crowd stations issues

Matchmaking, Connectivity & Replication

  • Fixed various matchmaking issues
  • Fixed various host migration issues
  • Fixed join-in-progress issues
  • Fixed various replication issues between host and clients
  • Fixed various issues in the My Club menu

Menus and HUD

  • Fixed various menu issues and pop-up overlap issues
  • Fixed Mission objectives & updates issues
  • Fixed issues in customization menu
  • Fixed some localization inconsistencies in the menus
  • Fixed some Credits issues

Mission tweaks (campaign, coop & side content)

  • Fixed various low repro walkthrough breaks
  • Fixed various NPC navigation issues
  • Fixed inconsistencies in some missions

World & 3D

  • Fixed various collisions and navigation mesh issues

Progression & Difficulty

  • Adjusted various community events rewards

PC-Specific

  • Fixed saves corruptions in some cases
  • Fixed temporal blur for SLI
  • Fixed graphical corruptions in Character Customization menu
  • Fixed crash in Character Customization menu on controller autoswitch
  • Alt+Enter switch window modes correctly
  • NPC on side monitors shows correctly
  • Minor UI improvements

I’m glad to see all these fixes – it’s a real shame that a game that punted the co-op so much had broken match making and various tracking issues in co-op. Plus, with so many glitches for animations and stability, it’s a small wonder that people are able to play and enjoy the game as much as some people are. I’d still wait until this latest patch rolls out to pick up your copy of the game if you’re still determined to play it – there’s really no reason to play a broken game, even if at its core it’s a fun experience.

How many patches do you think it will take until the game is where it should have been at launch? Have you been playing and enjoying it, or did you decide to wait until it was fixed?

These patches are getting crazy. When one pays big tom for bandwidth, There is most definately a case to be made for the developers to release finished products. Add the cost of paying to use a console network and the arguement is airtight. Imagine going to watch The Avengers 2 and the CG was unrendered…Would society accept it if they only included finished shots in the Blu Ray Box set ?

Those who have issues with this game I can honestly say I am not feeling much empathy for you. You buy Ubisoft you get less than what you pay for.

(I am typing this as I am considering where to put my Far Cry 4 Statue(Last Ubisoft game ill buy in a while though(That is what I said before)))

I tend to split my brackets to make reading easier:

          [{( )}]

Far Cry 4 also has issues, I rode a elephant into an enemy outpost and most of the soldiers where happy to just stand there while I rampaged. They didn’t even fire a single shot :/

What would you do if someone rode an elephant into your place of work?
I’d probably consider it a weird hallucination brought about by lack of sleep and ignore it and continue work.

Maybe they knew elephant = death. So they didn’t even bother… I was taking on a convoy last night and watched as 1 idiot enemy soldier fired a shot that missed me and hit an elephant. The elephant then showed it’s displeasure by rampaging all over the convoy, totally destroying all 3 vehicles and killing all aboard… I literally didn’t have to do anything – the elephant did it all – and still got the credit for taking the convoy down (maybe they thought the elephant was my back-up). Them elephants are SERIOUSLY powerful in-game (wish they could do that in real life to them poachers!)

Still loving my time with the game, though. Yeah, I’ve encountered a few glitches (like tigers chasing wildlife, only to disappear INTO the mountainside… Literally into!), even some game-breaking bugs (had to restart a few times coz NPCs didn’t go to their designated spots to continue the monologue, thus stopping me from continuing with the story), but I am still enjoying the game overall. It’s not as polished as FC3 (I never encountered a single issue, from start to finish in FC3… And I 100% completed that biatch!), but still as much fun.

Yeah, don’t mess with them! I was hoping they were like the elephants – you don’t have to hunt them for any reason and can just let them be. But their hides are needed for some upgrades, so I went about collecting only as much as I needed. But DAMN they take a beating – ended up having to use some form of explosive (mine, c4, grenade or rocket launcher) to bring them down – no jokes!! They took SO much damage… And a bow is basically useless against them (climbed a rock, so they couldn’t get to me and shot the rhino 10 times, in the head, with an arrow and he still didn’t go down – then he just ran off because he couldn’t get to me…).

There is anther bug where you attack a outpost riding the Elephant and the alarm does not go off. Cool early on for progression unlocks.

Yeah, I feel bad hunting any of the wildlife… Except those damn ‘dhole’ dogs – they are freaking rabid in the game and simply attack anything that moves and gets near them (villager, soldier, animal, car (no jokes!) – even saw a pack taking on an eagle!).

I hate the age of the internet. Seriously beginning to wonder if all the free porn, instant news, and near instant communication with people of similar interests on a global scale is worth the now almost certain release of broken games because a patch is so easy to propagate into the world.

Who am I kidding? I love the free porn and easy to connect communities. But still …
