Later this week, the Xbox One is getting patched to usher in a new Xbox One experience. One of the biggest features of that update is the backwards compatibility that’ll be introduced to the system. Since the big reveal of the feature though, people have wondered exactly which games will be getting compatibility. We already know that Kinect games, and others that require specific USB peripherals are out, but there are a many, many Xbox 360 games that people still want to play on their new consoles. These are the ones you’ll be able to play.

104 games made the grade for the first batch, which are done on a game-by-game basis. See anything you want to still play? Notice anything that’s conspicuous by its absence?

Says Microsoft’s Mike Ybarra, Director of Program Management for Xbox.

At Xbox, we believe that gaming is universal and should be enjoyed by everyone, everywhere. Our philosophy since launching Xbox One two years ago has been to put gamers at the center of everything we do and create the best, most seamless gaming experience possible. We’re taking a major step forward in that journey on November 12 when we start rolling out the New Xbox One Experience with Xbox One Backward Compatibility.

Today, I’m happy to unveil to you the first 104 Xbox One Backward Compatibly games. Some of my favorites are included, like the complete Gears of War catalog, Assassin’s Creed II, Fallout 3, Borderlands, and Castle Crashers. The full list of the first 104 games is below and can be found at the Backward Compatibility page at Xbox.com. And, as I said at gamescom, going forward, all Xbox 360 games available through Games With Gold after Nov. 12 will be playable on Xbox One.

Our launch of 104 titles on Nov. 12 is just the beginning. You can expect new Xbox One Backward Compatible games to be announced on a regular basis, starting in December. More titles are on the way, including fan favorites like Halo Reach, Halo Wars, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Bioshock, Bioshock 2, Bioshock Infinite and Skate 3. Stay tuned because this just the beginning of a long list of Xbox 360 games that will run on Xbox One.

I make fun of the boner a lot, but I have to admit, this is an impressive list. I’m keen to see Viva Pinata on the list. One of the best games of last gen.

Been available for ages on Xbox One if you bought the Rare Replay pack. Along with about 10 of the games in the list above, cheating MS on the numbers

But, but, it is my console. I have one. How can you mock it? I own one, therefore it is all the console ANYONE will ever need. Just ask me.

Or mock, you know, have fun or something.

Apparently clicking the two additional check-boxes for ME2 and ME3 was too much effort for EA.

Yet, still no soothing and rhythmic sounds of horse hooves ringing across the plains as John Marston makes his way to the next adventure on the Xbox One. 🙁

No RDR or any orher retail game that was in the top 30 list. Why the fuck have it then fuckers?
