As Geoff has pointed on at several occasions, like when I was at a family funeral at the weekend for that creepy uncle of mine, I happen to be stuck in 1985. I can’t help it, because that’s a golden year for rock music. And it looks like Rocksmith 2014 just stole my mix tape.

Rocksmith 2014 is almost here, and it’s got plenty of new ROCK music being added to its playlist. If you happen to own the previous Rocksmith game, you can import these new tracks into the game. For a price of course. But at least your DLC will be compatible with the game.

Here’s the full 2014 track list of songs which feature , with the new additions in bold:

  • Aerosmith – Walk This Way
  • Alice Cooper – No More Mr. Nice Guy
  • Alice In Chains – Stone
  • Arctic Monkeys – R U Mine?
  • Avenged Sevenfold – Bat Country
  • Bob Dylan – Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door
  • Boston – Peace Of Mind
  • Bush – Machinehead
  • B’z – ultra soul
  • Def Leppard – Pour Some Sugar On Me (2012)
  • Deftones – My Own Summer (Shove It)
  • Iron Maiden – The Trooper
  • EarlyRise – Wasteland
  • Fang Island – Chompers
  • Foo Fighters – Everlong
  • Gold Motel – Brand New Kind Of Blue
  • Green Day – X-Kid
  • Jack White – Sixteen Saltines
  • JAWS – Stay In
  • Joe Satriani – Satch Boogie
  • Kiss – Rock And Roll All Nite
  • La Sera – Love That’s Gone
  • Magic Wands – Black Magic
  • Mastodon – Blood and Thunder
  • Minus The Bear – Cold Company
  • Monster Truck – Sweet Mountain River
  • Muse – Knights Of Cydonia
  • Nirvana – Heart Shaped Box
  • Oasis – Don’t Look Back In Anger
  • Pantera – Cemetery Gates
  • Paramore – Now
  • PAWS – Sore Tummy
  • Queen – We Are The Champions
  • Radiohead – Paranoid Android
  • Ramones – Blitzkrieg Bop
  • Ratt – Round And Round
  • Red Fang – Wires
  • R.E.M. – Losing My Religion
  • Rise Against – Savior
  • Rush – The Spirit Of Radio
  • Screaming Females – Rotten Apple
  • Slayer – War Ensemble
  • Splashh – All I Wanna Do
  • System Of A Down – Hypnotize
  • Tak Matsumoto – Go Further
  • The Dear Hunter – Stuck On A Wire Out On A Fence
  • The Kinks – You Really Got Me
  • The Police – Every Breath You Take
  • The Rolling Stones – Paint It, Black
  • The Shins – For A Fool
  • The Smashing Pumpkins – The Chimera
  • The Who – My Generation
  • Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers – Mary Jane’s Last Dance
  • Weezer – Say It Ain’t So
  • White Zombie – Thunder Kiss ‘65

That’s a lot of damn good music, and I’m tempted to get my hands on Rocksmith so that I can finally learn the guitar and have all the panties thrown at me when I rock out. The game is out on October 25 in the US, with a local release date set for the beginning of December.

No offence (and here follows the offence), but the songs from those bands are super easy to play and not really worthy. But that’s just my opinion. Although Rammstein is fun to play.

Never just wanted to be a part of your favourite band??? And for fuck sakes, it is called “Personal Taste” so don’t come so early with this “not really worthy” bullshit. I love Halestorm. So I find them bloody worthy of being added to that rather bland list of bands, thank you very much!

lol chill dude, I said it’s my opinion. I totally agree on the ” be a part of your favourite band” part. Just saying that (for me) those bands are rather bland as you state it. I cant comment on Halestorm as I’ve never heard of it. But technically Avenged Sevendfold, Iron Maiden, Muse are all super difficult bands to jam with. The same can be said if I would compare Avenged to lets say Led Zeppelin. It just doesn’t compete.

            Metal ftw.
Ps. Thanks to Draiman Trivium’s new album is quite a let down. Draiman is good, no doubt, but don’t go and mix metal with this nu-metal stuff.

Out yesterday. But heavily influenced by Draiman, and the songs are quite flat. Maybe one or two cool songs. Not comparable to In Waves and Shogun.

Guy, fact is you took stuff way too personal. I come to comment on LazyGamer to relax and voice my opinion with my fellow gamers. Not to pick fights and argue.

What Mossel said he said sincerely and with respect. He never dissed your music, he was of the opinion that some of the bands you mentioned wouldn’t necessarily be great to play in Rocksmith, for reasons he provided. You were the one who took extreme offence for someone’s opinion not being the same as yourself, and took it out on everyone else for some or the other reason.

Take a step back and go read Mossel’s initial comment again. I really don’t see how it was a personal attack.

            Your friendly neighborhood alien,

            Oom Spathi

Look, I am passionate about my music. In my teens, I dated a girl who’s father taught me to appreciate a hell of a lot of music. It is thanks to that Oom that I can say with pride I have Ge Korsten right next to Metallica right next to Sarah Brightman right next to Kanye West right next to Leon Schuster.
What irks me is someone coming in, all high and mighty deeming stuff I love not worthy. What makes anyone so special and his opinion of what is “worthy” of inclusion more valid than mine?
Yes. Rammstein and Disturbed may not have mad skills as recognized by the elitist rock music fans.
Does it lessen my desire to be the guitarist rocking “Feuer Und Wasser” whilst Jessica Nigri stares lovingly into my eyes? Of course not. And unless something drastic changes in my life, I do not think that will ever happen. Hence, I play games. You know. For fun. To do stuff I cannot do in real life.

Yeah man, tune me. Not him, I was the one that offended you. But once again, like I stated in my very first comment, it’s my OPINION! Just say agree to dissagree and move on. Also, do yourself a favour and listen to some of those songs in the list. You might be surprised.

          • SaintsRowNigri

            October 17, 2013 at 09:34

Ok. Listen. I get it. I listen to music maid by morons. That is okay. I appreciate Rammstein is not the greatest band out there for people in the know. I am also sorry for being 37 years old, and not giving a shit if the rest of the world thinks that some old ballie from 1975 can rock a tune. If that is your taste in music, good for you.

Was it really necessary to be all high brow artsy fartsy because Rammstein can only play like three riffs/chords whatever?

I made a comment on a list of bands, and merely indicated there are three bands missing there that I would have loved to see there. You could have left it at that. But you just had to call them “not worthy”. Just as Eliminathan just had to make the the “Haha yup pretty sure it is exactly Drop D” comment.

          • RapturedMossel

            October 17, 2013 at 13:39

I am sorry for offending you good citizen of Lazygamer. Understand it was not my intention. I also feel very passionate about music and thus decided to point out that I think the bands you mentioned should not be on the list.

When I stated that the aren’t worthy, I didn’t mean that they suck or the songs suck. I meant that as a guitar player myself, those bands do not provide the best (in my opinion) riffs for people to play along with.

I can compare it with drums. Imagine your favourite band has a song where the drummer only steps the bass drum every beat. It may still be a cool song, but painfully boring and easy to play.

So I am not attacking your taste in music, only pointing out that there are better bands and songs out there that will prove far more valuable to the aspiring guitarist.

            Have a nice day! 😀

Dude, Im 24. I also was a rammstein fan back when Du Hast came out, but my music taste changed over the years. Do you play guitar? Because if you did you would also move on to more technical songs. And that is how that awesome list was compiled.

Not at all man: Green Day, Rise Against, Nirvana, Bob Dylan. Hey maybe they will add rammstein one day. I wouldve loved to have some Zeppelin in there, but unfortunately Jimi Page is a bit of a dick and wont give their songs to anyone. Like Mr Jagger said: You cant always get what you want.

As a Left Handed Performer, a teacher, and a life long professional in the entertainment industry, I must warn you all, any thing like this claiming to teach you guitar or any musical instrument in 60 days, is feeding you a line of BS. Further more, and more importantly, anyone or anything promoting LEFT HAND TAB IS TRASH!!! AND MUST BE STOPPED!!!

It serves one thing, a way to RIP OFF LEFT HANDED PEOPLE!

I teach a lot of left hand guitarists, I DO NOT OFFER THEM BACKWARDS CRAP!

There is no difference in writing music from RIGHT TO LEFT, so is that something any of you can accept?

I have seen this program, and watched a couple of my students go backwards, they have regressed from levels I got them up to.

One example was an average older beginner on guitar, who was finally understanding the use of scales, he got rocksmith, was calling me on the phone saying how good it is, how fast he is learning new stuff, and kept asking me to stop by and check it out.

Finally I did, and he seemed to play along with it ok, but I noticed his eyes, an intent stare at the screen. so I asked him to play that tune WITHOUT rocksmith, he couldn’t do it, so I played the background for him, and he still couldn’t do it.

Ever since the beginning of home computers, and midi software to teach how to play an instrument, I have never seen one work in real life.

And today with webcams one on still doesn’t cut it, as a teacher CANNOT see the details needed what watching a student, to know precisely what the student is doing wrong, and what to tell, show or otherwise instruct them in doing to get past that point!

SAY NO TO LEFT HAND TAB – TELL THOSE WHO PUSH IT TO GET A LIFE!

WEB Sites such as this who want a name and email address, need to give up, they will not get persons like me (celebrity) posting HONEST INFORMATION! Can you imagine some like a big rock star giving personal contact information on here? Ya right…
