Homefront advert sends people running for the hills

It’s becoming pretty obvious that THQ have a lot of marketing cash to ensure that everyone knows about their upcoming shooter Homefront, but unfortunately it looks like one of their adverts has now backfired.

THQ decided to brand the top of YouTube with a mocking breaking news post claiming that North Korea has launched a shock nuclear attack.

Unfortunately the users of YouTube failed to spot the Close Ad button and instantly thought that North Korea was really attacking them.

Some choice quotes from the YouTube users

"Almost freaked out at the YouTube homepage banner ad for Homefront, thinking it was a real headline on a North Korean attack. Not cool."

"HOLY SHIT I thought North Korea ACTUALLY Launched a nuclear ATTACK! FUCK YOU YOUTUBE AND YOUR SHITTING GAMING ADVERTISINGS!"

"I find the front page advertisement for "HomeFront" on Youtube to be offensive. I thought North Korea had actually attacked. Misleading."

"not sure if the ‘North Korea Attacks’ Youtube banner ad for #Homefront is the most tasteful use of advertising i’ve ever seen."

To be fair the banner does look very realistic with Hillary Clinton looking very pensive in the background and with America always on the brink of blowing someone up it’s not surprising they feel someone wants to blow them up as well.
