hearthstone

I don’t play Hearthstone, because I have a family, and I have rather fixed time constraints – I can’t afford to be sucked in by that game’s particular brand of digital crack. Many players have stopped though, claiming the game’s become a bit of a play-to-win nightmare. Some say it requires no skill at all, and is little more than a watered-down, noob-friendly version of Magic the Gathering. Then there are the people who just copy tried-and-tested god-tier decks. That’s all covered in Smosh’s latest Honest Trailer – which is all about Blizzard’s digital collectible card game.

I tried it, but my 8ta connection made it virtually unplayable. Especially with the arena, that costs 150 gold to enter. If your connection drops, and stays down just a little too long (which happened to me frequently), then you lost the match automatically, and after 3 losses in Arena mode you’re out! At least you always got an extra pack of cards regardless of how you performed in the arena, which is nice.

It was all fun and games till the legendary’s nation attacked, it was up to the credit cards to stop this vile RNG uprising! But soon vanished when the EURO exchange rate got to high.

Indeed, it quickly got tiring fighting the Naxx legendaries in every single deck.

I dabbled in it a little, but got tired real quick. I need to see progress, and paying for it is NOT going to happen, so the frustration meant me stopping. Will rather spend that money on “plastic crack” aka Warhammer 40K

YES!! If you want to get into tabletop/electronic tabletop things, then do it proper! I almost got into 40K tabletop, had a starter set and everything. My first army was going to be the Salamander chapter of the Space Marines. They’re not that well known I think, but they have some awesome lore (eg. assault on the tempest galleries)
What held me back was when I realized just what a major time and money investment it would turn out to be. The rulebooks alone are insane, with several chapters of the SM alone having their own books with heroes and special rules.
Also, White Dwarf battle reports ftw!

I have not yet seen the Salamanders on the field! It is a bit expensive these days, but hopefully the new CEO will bring things down a touch. Rulebooks – I do not advocate piracy but it is easy to get the digital editions to read/test before you buy. I personally prefer hard copies to read and use. If you are still looking to get started, there are lots of armies for sale 2nd hand, some of them expertly painted. Check out http://www.warhammergenerals.co.za/forum/viewforum.php?f=13 , I have gotten 1500pts worth of Tyranids AND Necrons there for R2000 each. Later traded the Necrons for much more Orcs. You might get a proper starter marine army there some time in the future if you keep an eye out.

After I had an arena match where I played 7 cards in a single turn and then threw out Edwin VanCleef as a 30+ attacker when my opponent had no defenders only to have my opponent play a Battlecry: Destroy creature with attack 5 or greater I stopped playing.

Sounds like LIES. ALL LIES… lol. Just to point out:
7 cards and VanCleef = a 16/16 monster. Big game hunter has the effect of killing a creature with 7 or higher attack.. The thing is people believe that filling a deck with legendries’ will mean auto win. No it does not, yes some of them does provide a tempo swing. But I play mostly only 1 – 3 Legends in a deck, card synergies is nearly more important. Dropping a Big monster for you turn, as the only target, does not work out 7/10 times…. It’s is all about timing, using the right removal cards on the right creatures…. There is more to this game then it appears… But you’ll need to play it to figure it out. Deck building is difficult, getting the right balance etc. Arena is a lot of fun, due to you playing against random creatures and cards that players don’t use on the ladder….

Let me guess though, one of those Legendary’s you will fall on is Rag. I don’t think there is many people left who don’t use him now. And he is still missing from my deck.

Everyone I play lately pulls him out. I’m basically keeping Big Game Hunter or other removal cards in hand now when I start just to remove him. Too many people relying on RNG and I do laugh when it fails miserably. Currently I’m going through a trend of cocky players who spam greetings, apologize’s and such. Then sit and wait for the timer to run out. I get great satisfaction defeating these types of players

Yeah he is still around in a lot of decks, with Dr. Boom as his apprentice. I know those type of players and do I despise them… I find that playing the stalling game with them as retaliation seems to speed their plays up….

Dr. Boom.. another legendary I need. Although I don’t find him as much of threat as Rag. Maybe it’s Rag’s intro that always gets me going.

Yeah Rag is awesome, Also loved the Deathwing entrance
            The Dr.Boom helps a lot with removal/Board presence…

There a few legendary’s I would love to see played more and just for fun as well. I have not seen one person play Nozdormu yet. I got no idea what his intro is like

The 3 ends up usually being Sylvannas, The Black night and Dr. Boom

No idea how many cards I played all I remember is that he was big enough to kill my opponent in my next turn and I’d hardly done any damage to him up to that point.
It was an arena match with random cards and I was lucky enough to get him and lots of cheap cards.

I actually do that pretty frequently which is why I haven’t finished a lot of the games I own on Steam.

This game is very much pay to win… NoFanx

Not even to mention they couldn’t even make up something new. Nah… Let’s just use things we have been spamming for decades.

    This trailer is 100% factual.

I disagree about the pay to win. My wife and I have been playing for over a year now and haven’t drop a cent on the game. And we both built pretty decent decks.

Ag the guys that always blame p2w is usually guys that sucks and cannot work out the formula for the game so p2w is the easiest to blame. I have not spent a single cent on the game, but have a huge collection of cards and legendries… Having some skill in Arena helps a lot for your collection, as when you get a 12 run (which is the max) you get 300+ Gold 1 or 2 Card packs, sometimes a legendary card etc… So stop whining and start winning

Agreed. Also haven’t spent money on the game. Got almost all the classic cards barring a few Legendary’s and now started up on the G&G collection. I got a few games that I play daily. Hearthstone is one of them. And I know a lot of people hate Priest but still my favourite hero to use.

Yes I have. It’s great to see such a big base in South Africa… You should sign up for the winter leg when that comes around.

Good luck and I’ll think about the Winter Leg. If I manage to finally achieve legendary status in Ranked which I just keep falling short of, then I will definitely enter.

Reaching Legendary rank requires a lot of time. You should enter, I only know of 4 or 5 players that has reached Legendary rank in the DGL

I’ve been bouncing between Rank 2 and 5 for the last 2 months…..This last month I went on a nice little 15 win streak but then I hit this patch of loses….Zoolock, Hunter, Zoolock, Hunter, Mage, Mage….Days like those I need to close and walk away
