In just a week, quite possibly the most anticipated game this generation is hitting retail; Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V. It’s a game that most of you will be happy to spend a lot of money on – and something that you know you’ll be getting your money’s worth from. but just how long can you expect to play GTA V?
According to Rockstar’s Dan Houser, your money will be well spent, as GTA V is "a big open-world experience that’s 100 hours long".
Speaking to The Guardian about the possibility of GTA being adapted to film, Houser said that GTA wouldn’t work as a film
"There’s still plenty of kudos in doing a film, but you shouldn’t ever do anything in your life for kudos," said Houser. "It’s much easier to imagine GTA as a TV series, as the form is closer, but I still think we’d be losing too much to ever actually do it.
"We’ve got this big open-world experience that’s 100 hours long, and that gives players control over what they do, what they see, and how they see it. A world where you can do everything from rob a bank to take a yoga lesson to watch TV, all in your own time. How do you condense that into a two-hour or 12-hour experience where you take away the main things: player agency and freedom?"
I doubt that 100 hour experience will be for the single player alone, and probably includes some of the time you’ll spend in Grand Theft Auto Online – but it’s still a lot of bang for your buck.

The crap is part of GTA. It’s what makes it different from all the other open world style games. All those extra useless little things you can do.
Also the in game tv shows are usually well worth watching.

I think i spent ±80 hours on the SP of Red Dead Redemption to 100% it, so i wouldn’t be surprised if the 100 hours is for the SP only.

lol. Blue Ray on PS3 for me thanks. Imagine how much fun it’ll be to change discs mid way through a game if it is a multi-disc release on 360. Shame, my heart goes out to the poor 360 owners… (p.s. – it is a 2 disc release but you only need to install 8 gigs and run the rest off of the 2nd disc.)

I doubt the main game is anywhere near that long. Most RPGs clock in between 40 – 60 hours main. But as with all Open World games, this is obviously to be expected. You will have 100 of hours of gameplay, including main and side. Multiplayer will probably add on top of the 100 + hours

Why would you doubt it? It wouldn’t be the first game with over 100 hours in the SP portion. And if you’re trying to inflate the gametime, why wouldn’t you add in all the multiplayer? Why would you just add ‘some’ of it? Weird.
