The Xbox Live Marketplace was born in late 2005 and in that time it has brought in a total $240 million in revenue… That’s quite a formidable amount but that is only half the story.
In the past 12 months alone the Marketplace has earned $180 million, so we can see quite clearly that the general community has come to grips with the idea of DLC and that this ‘fad’ is going to stay.
It was also announced that a title with paid DLC makes on average $21 million more if it is released within 30 days of the retail release date. Showing that a lot of people out there put a lot of sway in DLC.
