How to draw the mighty Excalibastard from Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

Excalibastard

Throughout history, there have been many legendary weapons. The six-shooters of Wyatt Earp. The mighty Excalibur of King Arthur. The hammer of Thor, Mjolnir. My poor attempts at cooking. But behold, the latest instrument of death to join the ranks of these legendary weapons! Behold, the Excalibastard!

First up, here’s where you can find the gun in the game. Head outside, go to Triton Flats and head towards Stanton’s Liver. Once you you’re there, head for the bridge but take a left turn before crossing it. Moon-hop across the cliffs, and you’ll find the proverbial gun-sword in the stone, waiting to test your mettle. Here’s what it looks like:

Excalibastard

Look at that. A shiny legendary gun, just waiting to be pulled out and used to spread bullets everywhere on Elpis. The catch however, is that you need to be badass enough to pull it. Plenty badass. Or have a rank that is around 2500 in badassitude, in order to draw the Excalibastard.

The best way of course to gain badass points to increase your rank, is to tackle various challenges in the game, or to treat a woman with respect. Remember, nothing is more badass than that according to Mr Torgue. Rank up, and you’ll soon be able to pull the gun, which will be tied to your character level. Still, here’s what it looks like at level 30:

Excalibastard

BADASS!

Impressive, but is it SMG or pistol or rifle?

Seems like Rifle/pistol becoz of small mag size

It’s a laser, the icon in the bottom right shows the weapon class.

Except for the shotguns. Hyperion shotguns are some of the best in the game. You can just hip fire. Remember the Conference Call?

That is why I use assault rifles in all my games. Because I can’t hit anything I may as well hit everything.

I found a shotgun with 30+ mag and explosive ammo. Carbon-fiber camo with red accents.

          Used it throughout first playthough.

Find shotgun with massive damage but rubbish accuracy equips anyway. Finds myself in confined space, uses shotgun. Kills everything including myself. Reads description fine print “shoots rockets”.

            Hahaha!

I did that so many times with overpowered grenade mods. Good times.

I usually do as well, bullet hoses are my normal go-to weapons but in Warframe I find the weapons that require you to be more accurate tend to be the most useful.

          It’s the ammo restrictions.
Firing off 1 clip of the Gorgon might get you more kills than with the Latron, but you are definitely going to be switching to your secondary much sooner.

I tried using the Gorgon a bit, didn’t like it. At least with my Latron I can double tap almost anything. I’m more partial to my Dread – mostly because it crits like a mofo & punch through rocks my world.

My biggest gripe with warframe is that I like to proceed slowly, cautiously it is how I play. Teammates disappear into distance.

I quite like Hyperion weapons for more nimble foes. Actually helps fill them with lead easier. But that’s just me.

I find using them is a waste of ammo since it takes half the clip to reach the accuracy of other guns and by then you’re lucky if you landed 3 hits of the 15 you just fired.

And with the harder later playthroughs, wasting ammo is a big “please don’t kill me, please don’t kill me, please don’t kill me” moment waiting to happen.

It’s pretty surprising how accurate a sniper rifle is with max Anarchy stacks.
You only miss by about 1 meter at any range.

So the last few pre-orders I’ve collected have REALLY let me down. The last good title I actually enjoyed at release WAS Borderlands 2. So I’m hoping this continues the trend of awesome gameplay, because if this tanks I’m officially going to cry myself to sleep and only play Tetris until the end of days.

and if it falls and gets stuck in that little rock when it lands you’re fucked and won’t be able to loot it. CLICKING the item triggers a permanent lockout on your character for life LOL, instead of actually looting the thing. thanks to shitty code i’ll never have this gun.
