How to perform a Mercy in Mortal Kombat 11

MK mercy

Mortal Kombat 11 is a simple game on the surface. It’s you, one other fella and you’re both going to try your hardest to turn each other’s face into what could only be described as grandma’s famous spaghetti bolognese recipe. A best of two follows you shed enough blood to literally paint the town red and someone is going to have their limbs brutally removed by the time you’re done.

Or, and hear me out here, you could be a nice guy. Briefly.

Amongst all the Fatalities, Animalities and even the Brutalities of previous games, Mercy has always felt like an odd idea in Mortal Kombat.  It’s perhaps the greatest slap in the face possible, more so than a Fatality. It’s a chance for you to pity your opponent, and actually give them a second chance to beat you. Naturally, it’s an idea that I hope anyone who fights online in Mortal Kombat 11, uses frequently. Have mercy on me, guv’na.

So how do you do it? Easy!

  • You must be at least half a screen away
  • Hold the left trigger
  • Tap down several times
  • Release left trigger

And that’s all there is to it. Back in Mortal Kombat 3, the method for initiating a Mercy was a touch more complicated. You’d have to stretch a match to the third round, complete it without blocking and then do the input. Which if I remember correctly, was holding down the run button and hitting down three times.

If you wanted to perform an Animality, you’d have to show Mercy, as Midway really wanted you to earn those animalistic finishers back in the 90s. Anyway, show a little Mercy in Mortal Kombat 11, and let the good times keep on rolling.

  1. Well that completely flies in the face of what MK is all about. I didn’t even know it existed.

This is clearly meant to be next level BM as the input makes you teabag your opponent. Maximum disrespect.

I remember the one mortal kombat had a lot of endings you could do. Like an Animality and even Babality.
