Ever wonder if it was possible to replace the hard drive in your PS3 with something a bit more beefy? Well the short answer is…yes! 😀
It’s actually pretty simple. First step is to back up, you need to temporarily transfer all your existing stuff from the PS3 hard drive onto an external USB HDD. Use the PS3’s “Save Data Utility” to transfer it.
Now switch the PS3 off, flip it over, remove the HDD and detach the metal shield. Now re-attach the shield to your new (bigger! :D) 2.5″ HDD and shove it back in.
Switch the console on again, format and transfer all your files back again and you’re done. Rinse and repeat.
