How’s your post-holiday backlog looking?

Log

For many unfortunates, holidays came to an abrupt end last week already, but for most of us, today means going back to work after a short break. I don’t know what you did with your time off, but my goal was to plough through as many games as possible, in an attempt to destroy my ever-increasing backlog of games.

My plan was to play through a bunch of older games I’d not had the time to finish, and the only one of those I managed to do was to finish GTA V. Finally.

Instead though, I sat on the couch in my underwear and played through a bunch of shiny new games; I plundered the oceans as Edward Kenway in Assassin’s Creed IV, shot all the things in Killzone: Shadow Fall. I’ve played a bunch of Battlefield 4, even venturing online, and spent far, far too much time pretending to run a faux restaurant in the insanely addictive OCD nightmare Cook, Serve, Delicious and played through iPad puzzler The Room and its sequel.

I had intended to play through Fallout 3 (again!) after picking the GOTY version up for R35 or so, and finally finish the next bit of the fight in Halo 4 (which I haven’t played beyond the third level). I was going to spend more time with Desktop Dungeons. I had every intention of nailing XCOM’s expansion pack, and  wasting a few hours with Deadpool. I even wanted to take 4 hours out of my schedule to work my way through Ghosts. Time ran away from me. Mostly because I spent the time I wasn’t playing games watching re-runs of QI and eating terribly unhealthy snack foods.

What games did you manage to get through these holidays? Have you managed to make a serious dent in your backlog?

Now that I have a Vita my backlogs even bigger. Warframe and Planetside 2 is helping either.

It was good overall, I enjoyed the combat and leveling system.
The story had some decent twists when you didnt expect them, but kind of fell apart at the end.
Some of the characters annoyed me quite a bit too, and it lacked the character development that made you care about them, i felt quite impartial to how most of them ended up in the end.
Overall a 7/10, so worth playing if you are a jrpg fan, but unfortunately nothing groundbreaking, needed a few tweaks to go from good to great.

Hello all! And a happy New Year to one and all! Hope everyone had a great holiday!

Sadly, I did not make a dent in my backlog… More like a slight scratch. I finished Killzone Shadow Fall and Resogun. Made a good dent in the racing in GT6. Started and am almost done with L.A. Noire (playing through it again). But other than that, I sadly have not got done with anything like what I wanted… 🙁 Played alot of golf (both real and the Tiger Woods 14 kind) and spent some time on the beach and visiting friends and family.

So, my backlog is very much intact… And staring at me with it’s nasty, judgmental eyes… Stop staring, damn it! **runs and hides under his desk**

I just came back from a two week tour of Europe. I saw the Pope. Well, his hand, very tiny as he waved from the window.
Usually, after day 4 of any holiday, I crave my Xbox. I’d murder the Pope for 20 minutes with my beloved console.
    Not so this time. Why?
The Force Unleashed, which is part of my backlog. Put me off gaming forever, I fear.
Why? They start you off playing as Darth Vader, wreaking havoc/death/destruction on Chewbacca’s aunts and cousins.
Then they take all that awesomeness away, and you play as the Apprentice?
I just cannot set myself up for disappointment like that again…

    Steam Sales….

One does not simply clear your gaming backlog.

After many very unhealthy holiday foods, it’s no longer a log.

How many you ask? One. I finished one game. The honours goes to Trine 2. I finished it only to realise that I have an expansion for it. I am blaming this on Rocksmith and beer.

Trine 2 rocks! That might be my favourite game that I played last year.

AC Black flag sucked most of my holiday time (very captivating stuff), finished it, now I’m contemplating the Avaline content.

Started Shadowfall, started War Thunder, tried warframe, almost finished Resogun, redid BF4 campaign on PS4, spent inordinate amounts of time unlocking weapons and attachments….. I just can’t bring myself to plug in the PS3 to finish games there.

I’m now wondering if NBA2K14 is worth the purchase… #ForeverBacklogged

My Xbox failed on me this holiday, and the PS4 stock shortage affected me even to this day. One can imagine how bored I am.

Hi all. A happy and prosperous 2014 for all.
I had hoped to get through my entire back log (don’t buy any games if I have unplayed games, so it’s not that long.). However I got to play one mission in dishonoured and that was it. Had too much fun hitting all my golf balls into the ocean and breaking my driver’s head in two (not). But I enjoyed a bit of sun, sea and surf and locked all electronics away at home. Best decision ever (Except for the 100’s of mails I have to go through now.)

I was planning on getting into my backlog on my off days (I was working throughout December), but a diving accident left my right collarbone broken, so I was not going to be able to play any games requiring 2 hands 🙁

I just finished killzone and now I’m enjoying the multiplayer. I actually prefer it over callofduty. Then, I still have Batman on the PS3, and my sister bought me Diablo 3.
