Hunt the order in Assassin’s Creed: Rogue

Assassin’s Creed: Unity is a new start for the franchise when it releases later this year. It’s a PC and new-gen only game, with new visuals and gameplay ideas. But that doesn’t mean that the older generation of consoles will be left out this year, as the series takes one final stab on a pair of platforms that helped shape it. And this time, the game has lived long enough to see itself become the villain.

If there’s one positive to Assassin’s Creed 3’s dismal hero and all around lacklustre setting, it’s that the game still managed to spin out some great characters and ideas. Sailing is back once again in Assassin’s Creed: Rogue, taking the elements of what made it fun in Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag and adding a Templar spin to it, while various other characters of the Assassin’s Creed 3 era pop up to either aid or hamper the efforts of Assassin-hunter Shay Patrick Cormac as he fights his way through the Seven Years War.

I’ve always dug the storyline of Assassins vs Templars, but like the fence-sitting bastard that I am, I also enjoy hearing both sides of the story. If that’ll be permitted of course. And in Cormac, I see a character that could help give the series what it really needs, a singular villain to the Assassin order who happens to be a very real and dangerous threat to any member.

Shame that he’s only being used for one game then. Assassin’s Creed Rogue is out on November 11 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

  1. Is it just me, or does Rogue seem more Interesting, narratively than Unity?

Is this not coming to PC too? Not that I’d get it now, I’m having a difficult enough time getting motivated to finish the AC3 DLC.

I gave up, watched clips on Youtube and jumped to Black Flag.
I do not regret my decision.

I haven’t got Black Flag yet. After 70-odd hours of AC I’m bored of it again, which is why the DLC motivation isn’t there – but I have to finish it heh.

Am I the only one looking forward to Rogue more than Unity?

Um… *rereads sentence 4 times* Right.
Well Unity is a ” a PC and new-gen only game” and Rogue is for “the older generation of consoles”.
Unity has been delayed to November 13th (according to Zoe’s article http://www.lazygamer.net/general-news/assassins-creed-unity-delayed ) while Rogue is being released on the same date (Wikipedia).
Unity follows some random guy I am not interested enough in to remember anything about and has co-op (you and your friends all seem to play the same guy though) while Rogue follows guy whose name I don’t remember who is an ex-assassin turned Templar and you get to hunt down your former allies after betraying them.

I like the idea of playing as a templar, but don’t you already play as templars in the first three sequences in assassin’s creed III ( I’m Refrencing to haytham of course.) And you also play as templars in the multiplayers of every game with it don’t you.

I also don’t really like the idea of assassins creed IV: Black flag, considering that Edward is neither assassin nor templar.

The idea of unity is the only new idea to me, because you play as assassin’s and you can play with your friends rather than have them watch you.
