I am so tired of the typical Assassin’s Creed protagonists. Jacob Frye seems like everything we’ve come to expect from an Assassin’s Creed lead assassin, and he bores me to death, making the whole game feel lackluster. I kept saying that I was holding out hope that Evie would make the whole game awesome, and I hate to say I told you so (no, I actually love to say it), but I was totally right.
Here is some Evie gameplay that has been released from Gamescom.
While I truly despise the constant “iconic” Ubisoft marking crap, the actual gameplay looks like such fun. The chameleon skill looks a bit over powered to me, although I believe it is only unlocked quite late in the game itself. There were also some interesting shifts in camera angles, as well as some truly inspired music. Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is looking better already.
Watching her stealthy gameplay, it feels much more like what I can expect from my own experience with the game. This is how I like to play, what makes the Assassin’s Creed franchise unique. Watching a walkthrough showing the various options available, including a gameplay style that so perfectly matches my own makes me far too happy. This is what I was hoping for from Evie gameplay, and Ubisoft more than delivered. Thank you for restoring my faith in Assassin’s Creed games. I’ll just cover my eyes for the Jacob parts if no one minds.
Does this change your view of the Assassin’s Creed game coming this year, or have you stopped paying attention already?

I stopped paying attention at the end of 3. Not because I didn’t like it, but because that was enough of Assassins Creed games.

I’ll buy their games later. Currently there are just way too many games coming like Mad Max,JC3 and Fallout 4. Plus I still need to finish Witcher. Yearly releases has saturated this series and even though they can be good I cant see myself buying a game if the sequel gets announced a month or so after release.

Played the demo level at gamescom and have to say the rope launcher and chameleon skin are a tad overpowered.
Felt like arkham games where if you got into trouble/detected you just grappled to safety and typically the AI will just forget that they blatantly saw an assassin in front of them who just grappled to the roof and call off the search.

It looks overpowered yeah, but for me personally, what caught my attention was just how immersive and atmospheric the game seems now. I can look past the overpowered skills, AC was never hard to begin with.

Sorry, but Jacob is by far the better character. Far more interesting and FAR more likeable. His character model is even vastly superior. As for your stealth-focused gameplay, Jacob is perfectly able to fill that role. He is slightly less stealthy and lacks chameleon but this is no big deal. The only major thing he has going against him is fewer and weaker knives, and the strength doesn’t even really matter since you should be doing head shots anyway
If you didn’t play Jacob as a stealth assassin then it’s because you consciously made that choice. I focused both Evie and Jacob towards stealth and found very little functional difference in their cababilities.
