 And here is the answer to my previous posting… The current 1.5 version does not have all the BC patches loaded which is why it failed so badly in the test run earlier…

Phil is promising up to 1200 titles playable on Launch…

BUT what about the people who don’t connect their machines to the PlayStation network? Tough seems to be the answer so far…. Not good Phil…. or Sony.

Casual gamers don’t connect gaming consoles to online networks and they expect to play their PS2 games on the PS3…

Speaking at a European demonstration of Home and LittleBigPlanet yesterday, Harrison revealed that retail units will come pre-installed with firmware version 1.5. However, the backward-compatibility enabled firmware update (1.6) is being released on launch day, March 23. Harrison also promised that Sony would keep working to ensure the number of compatible titles increases with future firmware updates.
