Division-phony

New York New York! Come and see the sights! Battle homicidal gangs obsessed with the purity of fire, renegade private military companies and possibly get infected by a killer virus with a 95% mortality rate! Book now, and get an extra week in the trendy Dark Zone! March may have been the month of The Division, but it’s going to need a few tricks to stay ahead of the pack in the months to come.

There’s the obligatory paid-for content that’s on the way, but there’s also a few freebies being tossed towards fans. Content in the form of two free expansions that’ll introduce new gameplay and ideas to the run ‘n hide formula. This includes Incursions, which Ubisoft provided more details of in a livestream last night.

Essentially raids for The Division, the first such Incursion will be Falcon Lost. Set in an underground water treatment facility that happens to be filled with Last Man Battalion forces, Falcon Lost will offer some tougher gameplay geared towards squads of players. There’ll be no checkpoints, so one screw-up and you’ll need to start all over, while enemies will also make use of armoured drones and an end-stage boss that happens to be an armoured personnel carrier.

The-Division-9.jpg

New gear sets were also revealed, that’ll push your stats beyond the current level 30 cap, with Talents and Perks that’ll mix up the way that players engage with enemies according to Ubisoft. Three of these armour sets can be found in the wild and go by the names of Sentry’s Call, Striker’s Battle Gear and Technician’s Authority, while a Dark Zone specific set of gear is called Path of the Nomad.

The Dark Zone is also getting some new content, in the form of supply drops. These are guarded by tough goons, but the bonus here is that the loot inside of these drops are uncontaminated and therefore don;t need to be extracted for a clean-up using the chopper system Of course, you’ll have to watch out for players as well, like that group of ****s who followed me around last night and kept gunning me down.

Finally, loot itself is going to be up for grabs with a simple trading system. Merely select your loot, drop it and your pal can pick it up. Easy. These changes will start to be implemented in The Division from update 1.1 this month, and on all platforms simultaneously.

Imma need a rocker launcher or some such, because I have an idea that trying to sneak up on it to stick a bunch of sticky bombs on its ass is going to be a painful proposition.

I prefer doing this, scan, throw turret in flanked position, enemy freaks out, sees turret, turret starts firing, and then I flank

Heh I don’t know that an armoured personnel carrier is going to give much of a shit about those baby turrets we can throw about 😛

That said, you’re right about it being effective against mobs, & the turret has saved my ass a few times now.

I’m really enjoying the co-op, been hitting it up to level 15 by my lonesome, did a few missions with Bob earlier this week, and we had a truckload of fun!

It definitely has it’s charm, especially if you do the missions on hard or challenging difficulty, but I’ve lost interest post game…

It also depends on the teammate, I cannot picture myself playing with a non-team-player.

There has to be cohesion in the unit

Exactly! The game begs for that line of communication to be held up permanently, that, in effect, teaches you to learn what your teammate is going to do next, I loved playing with a group of guys that also knew what they were doing, that allowed me to balance my skills to cater for what they didn’t cover, like scanning the area or deploying health stations, it was great fun, I honestly enjoyed playing the game with others…

I have three friends with whom I usually play online.
            One is brilliant at teamwork
The other is the worst possible team mate you could ever ask for
The other is really good at FPS games so tends to go ahead and you end up dying, while he survives.

HAHA!! That sounds like a team perfect for deafening arguments through teamspeak!

The guy that’s terrible at teamwork is actually the most entertaining. Especially in strategy games. I’d be seeing my ass in Company of Heroes and ask for his help, then he’d be like: “I don’t think I’ve got tanks to spare now” – with thirty tanks standing around his base with nothing to do.

HAHA!!! Yep!! I’ve seen that a few times, “Hey man, will you pass me a health pack, I’m out”,”Aah man, I only have 70 in my backpack, I don’t think I can give you one…”

Me too, The team I’ve played the Division with were all heavy into their offensives, so I had to run around playing as the scout/healer, we did have quite a few good runs though…

            Yea. Pretty much.
Survival games get really interesting. Two guys build the base. One guy kills the enemies. One guys gets himself killed all the time

      You spelled Dark Souls incorrectly.

I’ve also lost interest in the Division now. The game was a ton of fun with friends but I think I’ve just got to a point where I’m not interested in farming / grinding for gear in games anymore.

Why would I run the same content over and over when I could be playing ROCKET LEAGUE until Dark Souls is out?

I played Dark Souls 1 only, which I did enjoy, I’ll admit, but not enough to get it again.
I didn’t enjoy respawning 2km away from where you just died, felt like I wasted my time just walking back and forth the whole time.

          GIT GUD! 🙂

Totally understand though. First time I played the game I gave up after the Bell Gargoyles. Just didn’t get it. Picked it up again a year or so later and fell in love with the series. Finished 1 and 2 a few times each. Dunno, something just clicked 😀

I have to say, The Division is most definitely my kind of RPG. Yeah, Destiny has it’s value and The Witcher is astounding as a narrative masterpiece with incredible set pieces, but The Division reaches straight into the pleasure center and yanks it in all the right ways.

” There’s the obligatory paid-for content that’s on the way “………Nope. Nope and Nope. I imagine going out to buy the latest BMW 5 series. You pay full price for it and you think you gout a great car. Then, You read that you will have to buy seat-belts at a later date for a additional cost. Yeah, And then they will throw in free car polish just to take the sting off. It may seem silly to compare it this way but if you think about it, you can compare it this way.
