IGN’s ninja spies have sent word that LucasArts’ next-gen current-gen Indiana Jones game has been shelved. The next iteration in the franchise, presumably for the PS3 and Xbox 360, was to be a “A next-generation adventure for the danger-seeking archaeologist, this future entry in the series features environments from all over the globe, with gameplay bolstered by next-gen physics, character AI and graphic quality.â€
Hardly surprising, since nobody has heard anything of this game since 2006.
More after the jump!
When questioned by Joystiq, a LucasArts representative stated “LucasArts remains absolutely committed to the Indiana Jones franchise. While we are aware that fans have been eagerly awaiting additional information on the upcoming game, they can rest assured that details are forthcoming,” which is PR speak for “I’m moving my lips and sound is coming out of my mouth, but I’m not really telling you anythingâ€
Maybe somebody at LucasArts played Naughty Dog’s Uncharted and realised they couldn’t compete?
While this news may make many fedora-wearing, whip wielding fans cry, I’d be only too happy if this game was indeed cancelled – and Lucasarts announced they were working on a new Monkey Island. Quite simply put : Guybrush pwns Indy
