Cartoon indie zoe

There is no way it’s Thursday already! Where did the first three days of the week go? Considering the massive launch of Destiny, it’s actually kind of nice to focus on the other guys. Here’s all the news about games that don’t have massive budgets but are still quite cool.

First of all, the A MAZE festival is in full swing in Joburg. It officially kicked off yesterday and is an amazing place for all your local indie joy. I will be chairing a panel discussion on Friday night, so I hope some of you are considering attending – I’ve even got the Wookiee, a Free Lives rep and Vlambeer’s Rami Ismail on the panel. You know you have to attend now.

Xsyon, the free apocalyptic fantasy sandbox MMORPG just got a new update that adds cooking and farming to your survival.

Endless Legend, a 4X strategy game is coming out of Early Access and will launch in full on Steam on 18 September. The game is currently 10% off and you can still get in on the Founder Pack which grants you a whole bunch of extra goodies.

The US government is getting involved with gaming, and this time it’s not to hold hearings about the effects of violent games. The White House actually held a game jam for educational games with big and small studios in attendance. This is the kind of initiative that I like.

Matthew already told you about the glory that is the latest Humble Indie Bundle. With some of my favorite indie games bundled into one glorious package, you really might just have to pick it up. It’s worth it.

Prototype of the Week

This week’s prototype selection is based purely on nepotism. That’s right, our very own Alessandro (Sandy) has a game at A MAZE and you can play the prototype. Just look at his pretty screenshot (ok, maybe he needs an artist):

Black Light Battle Cinema

It’s called “Black Light Battle Cinema” and his official description is:

A rapid, local multiplayer title about being smarter, quicker and more daring than others to stay alive.

Please give Sandy some feedback on the game – you can grab the PC build here.
