It’s that time again – time for all your indie gaming news that might have fallen through the cracks. However, this time, in honor of the Steam Sale underway, I’m going to highlight some games that might have fallen through the Sale cracks instead.
Under $5
For those who don’t like to spend money (which I’m assuming is everyone), there are some excellent games currently available for less than $5. A bunch of them have been part of flash sales, but really, if you don’t already won these games you should pick them up for a bargain:
- Gone Home = $2.99
- Brothers: A tale of two sons = $2.99
- Castle Crashers = $3.74
- Kingdom Rush = $4.99
- Terraria = $3.99
- Risk of Rain = $4.99
- Papers, Please = $4.99
- Hotline Miami = $3.99
- World of Goo = $4.99
- Limbo = $4.99
- To The Moon = $2.99
- Fez = $4.99
- Monaco = $4.94
- One Finger Death Punch = $2.49
- The Impossible Game = $2.99
Over $5
Of course, not all fantastic games can come for such a ridiculously low price, so here are some other games you might want to pick up that are featuring nice price reductions.
- The Banner Saga = $12.49
- Kerbal Space Program = $16.19
- Blackguards = $13.59
- King Arthur’s Gold = $7.49
- Goat Simulator = $7.99
- FTL: Faster Than Light = $6.99
- Bastion = $8.99
- Plague Inc: Evolved = $13.49
- Prison Architect = $14.99
- Transistor = $17.99
- The Stanley Parable = $10.04
- Desktop Dungeons = $11.24
- Nidhogg = $8.99
- Broforce = $11.99
- Don’t Starve = $8.99
- Skullgirls = $7.49
- Octodad: Dadliest Catch = $8.99
- Democracy 3 = $16.74
My biggest recommendation would be for Democracy 3. If you like using policies to change you country, seemingly complex gameplay that becomes second nature, and getting assassinated by dirty hippies there can be no better game. Plus it’s turn based and has all kinds of little bits of humour built into the game. I poured far too many hours into this game over the weekend, and I don’t regret a second of it.
What awesome indie titles have you picked up during this ridiculous binge that we call the Steam Sale?

I have bought 1 game over the entire sale.
And so far it has not been worth it, but I have hope, hope that Microsoft’s services aren’t as shitity as I fear.

Sorry, I didn’t realize the summer sale was excluded from the ‘need to clear backlog before I buy’ you’ve said on so many occasions.
