Indie zoe zombies

I’m back, baby! I’ve successfully returned from LA and I’m ready to dive back into the indie gaming action. Of course, any diving would be a lot easier if this congestion would go away. I seem to have returned to SA with the plague, but that won’t stop me from telling you all the awesome indie news you might have missed.

The guys told you about tons of crazy indie stuff while I was away. We had the horrible controversy about retailers reselling Humble Bundle keys for profit, as well as the bizarre world of Push Me Pull Me that takes indie gaming to a whole new level of weird. There was even the atrocious news about the Game Jam reality show that made my blood boil – Game Jams are awesome and dramatic enough, they don’t need Mountain Dew and fake sexism.

Twinbeard, the developers of Frog Fractions who are currently kickstarting Frog Fractions 2. With less than a week to go until the Kickstarter campaign ends, they made a cute little adventure game to try to drum up more support: Kickstarter Simulator 2015. I’m still waiting for Simulator Simulator to take the world by storm, but this is a pretty cool way of building support and awareness for the game. Plus, you can play it in your browser.

The Florida Bundle from Indie Royale is looking pretty good – the current minimum is $5.09 and you get six games, although they might boost it soon. Defense Technica is one of said games, although another favorite of mine is on the list, too: Mark Ecko’s Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure. What could be better than running around as a graffiti artist, taking on corruption?

Prototype of the Week

Over on the Make Games SA forum, the guys from Celestial Games (makers of Toxic Bunny) are showing off a new platform puzzle game: Montez. It’s playable in your browser, as well as on Windows, Linux and Mac. They are looking for feedback, so feel free to tell them all the things you loved or loathed about the game. Some of the commenters are already comparing it to Braid – would you agree?

Between this, the Drakengard 3 CE news and the 3DS PSA my wallet feels lighter than I’d like, and I haven’t even spent anything today.
