Introducing Wraith – Evolve’s Assassin Monster

Evolve Wraith (5)

We have all been waiting with bated breath for the reveal of Evolve’s third monster. If Goliath was the brute and Kraken was the wizard, Wraith is most definitely the assassin monster. She is also my favorite of the pack.

When I was whisked away on a top secret mission to the UK, I got to experience all sorts of awesome things. One of which was the opportunity to play as Wraith for hours upon hours and it was everything that I’d hoped it would be. As you are all familiar with the Hunt mode, here it is with me playing as the Wraith.

Wraith has less health and armor than the other monsters – her approach is much stealthier and more trick-based. She can’t take on the hunters in a normal fight like Goliath, but her abilities still make her a serious threat. Her abilities are:

  • Warp Blast – Warp to target and create explosive blast
  • Abduction – Steal targets away from the pack
  • Decoy – Fights for you while you go invisible
  • Supernova – Powerful arena to fight in while melee damage and speed are increased

Her melee attacks are particularly powerful. Additionally, like the other monsters, Wraith is able to easily climb the various obstacles as well as smell to find animals to eat or see if the hunters are nearby. She also has a warp ability that allows her to dash in whatever direction she is pointing. The warp recharges over time, allowed her to move quickly. Combining this with the decoy ability, Wraith is able to escape from combat. Depending on your approach, you may want to max out specific skills first, or spread your skill points so that you have access to all her abilities.

Evolve Wraith (6)

In fact, you can build a perfect storm depending on how you combine her abilities. Perhaps you can dive into combat with the Warp Blast, steal away the medic with Abduction, go mad and kill the medic with Supernova before using Decoy to disappear out of reach of the rest of the party. It’s up to you – I found the Decoy incredibly useful within combat, even when I didn’t want to escape. I would often send the decoy in to weaken the party before diving in with Warp Blast. There are a range of strategies, but for those (like me) who prefer to play rogue characters in games, Wraith will probably be your monster of choice.

Evolve Wraith (4)

Wraith offers a completely different gameplay style, one that is going to be a lot harder for new players to master. However, new players won’t get a hold of her at the start. When you initially start playing Evolve, you will have the starter set of hunters with only Goliath as your monster choice. As you progress, you will unlock new hunters and monsters, with Wraith as the last monster that unlocks. I know that I will power level my monsters just to get her.

Evolve Wraith (2)

With another excellent design and some fantastic abilities, that’s the monster roster rounded out. It seems as varied and unique as the range of hunters and will keep players occupied for many hours as they seek to master the various abilities and unlock all perks and achievements.

    Assassin’s Creed: Wraith?

The only things broken in this one will be the bodies of her enemies.

Two hands, one controller. You were made for consoles.

            Peasant.
