EA Snubbing Microsoft

Over the past few months EA have appeared to be leaning more and more towards the PS3 and away from the Xbox 360.

They are using it more and more as their initial development platform and are then migrating over the 360 while at the same time releasing demo’s and beta’s on the PSN before the XBLA.

However when it comes to the motion controller stakes it appears that EA is completely freezing Microsoft out.

Yesterday we say that Tiger Woods 11 was announced with full support for the PlayStation Arc Move but no mention of Project Natal anywhere and now today we have yet another announcement from EA.

EA Sports Active 2.0 will be heading onto multiple platforms including the Wii, PS3 and iPhone… leaving a pretty large elephant sitting in the room feeling all left out.

The only thing I can guess is that Microsoft has asked them not to announce anything Project Natal related until after E3.

They couldn’t really be snubbing Microsoft… could they?

I have a feeling that PS3 and Wii will be grouped together a lot more basically in the same way the X360 and PC are.

Sony will start taking the market share from the people looking for a HD Wii.

By the time E3 comes everyone would have forgotten about any announcements made now or unless they keep everyone updated like how Reach is going along :pouty:

Doubt its a strategic partnership aimed at increasing ps3 sales as well as EA’s as the Sony platforms have the most potential for growth.

EA makes more money of the PS3 platform and has a higher attach rate than the Xbox 360 currently, yet the ps3 has far fewer customers. I think EA are trying to build a loyal base, an affinity with the ps3 brand after their initial fiascos with Madden and Fifa. This is a temp partnership and can change at any given notice. I also think that EA’s Games have been the most heavily pirated on the Xbox 360 so that could be a reason they are shying away

IE Need for SPeed Shift has sold considerably more on playstation 3 as well as a host of other games

Its a well known fact that Sony platforms are the place to be to show case new ips and new interesting concepts

“well known fact” lol. I’m going to use that in future, makes it seem instantly credible.

To make it even more credible you should type it in uppercase. FACT!

Or … it could be that EA can’t announce any Natal titles until E3? As for their leaning towards PS3… it’s more than a little strange when it comes to something like Modern Combat games that really got started as a big franchise on the Xbox 1. I can see it for Need for Speed: Shift… they were going to get crushed by Forza 3… that was a given so focus more on the PS3 that isn’t going to get a new sim for a while (I use the word sim lightly for Shift)

So from those things, you conclude that EA is ignoring the 360?

Guess N4G will approve anything these days…

For EA to not use MS as a platform would be a bad move.
More people buy EA games on the xbox than the ps3. They may have support for different games and maybe the xbox wont get some. But EA would loose a crazy amount of money by freezing MS out. Im sure EA will adapt something to NATAL, but i prefer a regular controller on both the xbox and ps3. EA are really there to take our money, and to remove 1 whole platform from their game lineup would be devistating. Theres no doubt, its a move they will not make.
They still want to take our money.

Wow, LazyGamer must be getting pretty desperate for clicks.

First the “Is Microsoft about to announce Xbox Live for SA” article, a rumour which you created based on nothing, and now this?

Really guys, there is not a lot of reason for me to keep coming here if you keep publishing such unsolicited sensationalism.

I understand that headlines like this will get you a few hundred extra uniques from N4G, and you need stats to sell banners, but do you think your local advertisers really want to be paying for clicks from people in the USA and Europe?

I just don’t understand some people… This is not biased in any way and doesnt even have a sensationalist title…

It is a really valid article about why EA aren’t including X360 (or just not Natal) for there latest games (EA Sports Active and Tiger Woods).

The article isn’t biased in any way.

because Xbawks is just a simple gaming console pre next gen, counter parts made 2005.

Real next gen is ps3, counter part made 2006. Full entertainment system not just a gaming console

    huh?
the 360 got the early demo, not to mention in AU for some reason the ps3 version is STILL! not out even though the pc and 360 versions released on march 3rd.
that certainly does not sound like favoring the ps3 to me.
not to mention one of EAs biggest titles is a pc, 360 exclusive.
