Love it or hate it, but Gears of War could quite easily be considered the defining game of the current console generation. It’s the game that made many, many people opt for the Xbox 360, and led to this being a generation of grey and brown cover shooters. And it might be coming to the PlayStation 4.
In a tweet replying to Sony’s Adam Boyes, Epic Game’s Mark Rein hinted that the game could end up on Sony’s platforms.

It’s worth noting that while the Gears of War games were published by Microsoft on the Xbox 360, the IP is wholly owned by Epic themselves – and they’d have every right to release the game on whatever platform they choose.

Unfortunately the PS4 doesn’t have many games for it. I know it will, but the launch window has got to be the saddest lineup for any console from any generation. This game series might be nice to have. Especially if they touch it up a bit.

PS 3 also never had any great games at all in the beginning. it just blows my mind that everyone is saying that Playstation doesn’t have any good launch titles, but not one has been played yet. just food for thought 🙂 I’ll give you an example, people are RAGING about watchdogs, i know its cross platform but i have a bad feeling about that title.

The reason so many people are saying it is because it is an issue. My point is having this as an option does help to flesh out that lineup. If I’m going to pay that much money to get a next-gen console now, having a super sexy Gears of War to play on it is a good idea.

I really don’t think it’s that bad.
Most people see it as (PS4) KZ and Knack vs (XO) DR3, Forza and Ryse. An obvious advantage to XO.
But check out the digital games as well as the F2P MMO Games launching: War Thunder, Warframe, DCUO, Blacklight. If you have a gaming PC then it means less, but lots of people don’t.

Sony would be BRILLIANT to purchase GSC Games (even though they sold the rights to the Stalker IP). They really need to put those guys to work, especially now that they have 2 consoles with enough hardware to support Stalker-like physics and AI. To say nothing of the map size.

No the sad part is GSC folded while trying to get Stalker 2 (a compilation of all 3 titles) to run on the PS3/360, when it was abundantly clear that those two machines simply didn’t have the resources required to run it.
I mean if GTAIV had to load THAT many times, there’s no effin way they could handle the Stalker sized map, plus AI, plus the physics engine. Such a waste, they should’ve been making a new Stalker for PC, while gearing up for the new hardware launch.

As sad as it was, part of me was happy, because I knew whatever product they came out with, would not be the same Stalker as what was released on PC, and that would’ve been borderline criminal.
The only sad part is that with the cancellation, came the near death of the studio. That was the truly sad part, only to be followed up with a swift nutshot, when they sold the rights to the IP.

Worried about that too. This generation has been FAAAR to reliant on sequels. I am worried this trend is going to continue into the new consoles. I want more original titles. I mean look at where the most excitment has been in the last few months….Titanfall, Destiny, Watchdogs, The Last of Us……I hope this little resurgence of originality continues…….kind of getting tired of the same games except with more shine……

I got GTA3 and Vice City on PC 3-6 months after it was released for PS2. Sony only had “launch” exclusivity, they weren’t complete exclusives.

I would rather prefer HD version of Castlevania Symphony of the Night. Possibly in the artstyle of the new King of Fighters. That would look amazing on next gen consoles. Full 1080p res running at 60fps. All the music from the original kept in place with some new ones inbetween. The game can be made a lot larger and maybe experience system upgraded as well as the loot etc etc and oh the story retold, but obviously in a better way. This is my dream…

I loved the first Gears of War. It was everything I had ever hoped it to be, and it delivered on all its promises. Just a pity it “took the short-bus home” for Gears of War 2 and 3 (I don’t even consider the last one a Gears of War game – that was the epitome of a quick cash grab).
If they’re coming to PS4, that’s a coup for Sony, but I don’t really see myself replaying them (even if they might be 1080p).

Yup. I’d play it all over again in full 1080p and with a Dualshock instead of controller that hurts my fingers. Absolutely. BRING IT EPIC! But chances are this isn’t what Epic has in mind. Instead it’ll be something related to “The Samaritan”. It could be the big reason Cliffy B. left Epic. Cliffy B. has always been a Xbox Fanboy and every chance he got to slam the PS3 and Sony he took it. He’s probably telling them to play the game that has kept Epic Games in the game this long on an Xbox 360 or just to play their game. I doubt we’ll see the original trilogy on PS hardware. Maybe Gears of War from here on out but, not the originals. Judgement failed but yeah, I’d buy them again but, I don’t think that will happen and Microsoft would be stupid to let go of what they’ve got left. If it does happen, it only goes to show further that Micro$haft cares more about money than their consumers. Plain and simple.

No? The PlayStation is for gaming. If Gears of War isn’t for you, then don’t buy it. I know a few people who are ONLY going for the XB1 for GoW, and I don’t blame them. I bought a Wii for Zelda and Smash Brothers and will do the same with a Wii U for a good Zelda and Smash Brothers game as well.
I went with the PS4 this gen just because most of my friends also made the switch. None of this “our exclusives are better” nonsense…you guys sound like kids when you argue over that stuff

I’m a little tired of this franchise, I had a blast with the second though, but the rest just feel like same old thing. But I don’t know why, I would REALLY like to play it on PS4, if a HD collection ever made it on PS4, I would replay them all. A new entry to the series with great innovations would be amazing, or even a new good IP, unlike Bulletstorm which was focusing too much on scores instead of action.
