Is the UK more welcoming of woman abuse?

So is the UK more open to the abuse of women or is America simply overly concerned about a feminist backlash… or is it simply some big marketing ruse? Those are the questions now being put forward to Warner Bros after they revealed two different statues for the release of Injustice: Gods Among Us.

First up we have the American collectors edition

injustice

It comes with a downloadable movie, a comic book, 3 in-game DLC skins the actual game and a statue of Wonder Woman and Batman battling it out to the death with Wonder Woman appearing to be dominating, or are they fighting as a team? It’s not a bad setup, and the costume features the usual tweaks that will appeal to certain sides of the market. Just like her current costume in comics, but with less star-spangled fashion added to it.

Next up we have the UK edition

UK-Edition

This time we get a fancy box, a steelbook, a comic book, 3 skins and a statue. So no downloadable movie but the big difference really is the different statue.

In this one Wonder Woman is wearing an outfit that includes a 100% increase in pants, which is slightly more restrained. But it also has her losing the fight with Batman having her around the neck and is ready to knock the living daylights out of her. Which is completely unrealistic as Batman is the weakest of all super heroes.

And this is what is causing the online issue.

Are Americans happy with sexualising women but not having them fight on an even playing field or is the UK side wrong for showing violence against women in glamorous light?

All I know is that the UK edition looks like a better quality setup and the idea that either one is portraying violence against women or sexualisation seems a bit of a stretch. But then again I keep being told I’m not part of the female gender and don’t understand. So… enlighten me please?

Oh and of course the most important question of all, which one are we getting? Well the only one I can find selling the collectors edition is kalahari.net who have the UK Xbox 360 edition for sale… so we get Wonder Woman being beaten up.

lol Gavin, trolling your own staff with the Batman comment?

I’d prefer having a statue where she’s kicking his ass while wearing pants. Because she would kick his ass & pants are important, never leave home without them.

God people need to chillax FFS. It’s a fantasy world. What about MK9 where you can grab the female characters at the feet and rip them open like a wishbone? (N00b Saibot fatality) I can imagine only feminist bitching about something so irrelevant like this.

Dood, in MK9 the women were clearly modelled around realistic woman-body archetypes, not some sexified Wonder-woman-pantless ideology!

I mean really, pants? What were they thinking!

The issue here is with the deleopers/promoters of the game and not either region. Personally, I would settle for the Asian LTD version 😉

We are such a fickle people if this is something that bothers us?!?!? One of these days we will be getting no male or female characters, we will get omnipeople?!?!? And they won’t be allowed to say anything, all games will be silent, otherwise they might offend someone somewhere….

Who is complaining? Americans in general? I don’t read “feminists” anyway in this article or the original article.

Hold up…. Wonderwoman is a fictional superhero(in). Naturally she is going to have the snot beaten out of her every now and then (just not by batman… I mean… he’s a wimp! Trollol)

So why are people complaining. They’ve never moaned that she gets beaten up in comic books?

I understand that we need to be sympathetic to woman abuse. And I agree woman abuse is wrong.

But aim the anger to where abuse is actually happening. Not imagined abuse between 2 superhero(in)s

Ok, I’ve read the pixel enemy article and I’ve read Gavin’s article and I’m a bit disgusted. There are no “online issue”. Nobody is making a big deal out of this. This is sensational journalism trying to create drama where there is none. If someone can point me to an online discussion where people are up in arms over this alleged sexism then I will eat my words. To me it seems like one of the writers at pixel enemy had a brain fart when viewing these two collectors editions and wrote an article asking the community if it’s an issue and the community said “no”. Nothing to report on.
If enough journalists hammer on this non-issue I’m sure some weak minded people will be convinced it’s sexism and the collectors edition will get pulled. We don’t need this!

She’s a superhero and as you’ve said has more powers than Batman. It’s not like he’s beating his timid wife after a night on the Stella. It’s two superheroes battling. Get over it people. Feminism just cries whatever – they have probably done this to prove that taking either option would lead to women and thick men crying and whining online.
